Re: Pakistan needs apostasty laws?
People have gone agnostic and atheist because of people like you who advocate death and life sentances for people who dont follow Islam the way you or others would like them to. Even if people are relgious, people like you who question their motives are enough to make people want nothing to do with any relgion that you ascribe to... Personaly, if we were in front of a crowd of non Muslims and you started saying things like this, I would try my damdest to not associate with you. Perhaps instead of ranting and raving, you should evaluate WHY people arent following Islam, and what you can do to present Islam in such a way that doesnt make it seem like some kind of punishment. And finally, Sharia needs to be modernized.. If Islam is a religion that cant change with the time, then Islam isnt a religion worth following.
PakPat, I think you got emotional here. The scriptural information about apostacy has not been viewed in the proper context and ofcourse common sense. These miscopnceptions exist because specific situations were generalized by scholars and distinctions were not made whether capital punishment was given for apostacy or high treason.
I would not say if Islam can't changed or modernized, I hope you understand what your implications are. I think it should be whether you can still follow Islamic precepts even in a modern day setup.
And as for Quran carrying the message of what awaits you in the hereafter should you not follow the rules set by Allah SWT and not telling this is also a grave injustice. Your goal should not be to save yourself from them but to save them from the hellfire and get the pleasure of Allah SWT.
