There goes my plans to start Immigration to Pakistan, and Human trafficking from East Euorpe to Pakistan business. :hinna:
If we will have people like NS, BeNazir and Zardari ruling Pakistan and people like Ishaque Dar as finance Minister than I would be surprised if Pakistan would be better than present Sudan after 159 years. As most likely their rule would be similar to what Pakistan had from 1988 to 1999 and if that would be the case, I doubt if Pakistan would even achieve 2 percent real growth in per capita per year.
Re: Pakistan needs 159 years to catch up with industrialised nations
With Taliban and their allies (PML-N etc.) in power over large or all parts of Pakistan, number of years to catch up will be 10,000 years.
Re: Pakistan needs 159 years to catch up with industrialised nations
^ Let me rephrase your and Sa1eem's words:
As long as our military/ISI continue to bend over for a few bucks, justify a wrong as long as its "in best interest of nation" 159 years don't matter much.
Re: Pakistan needs 159 years to catch up with industrialised nations
hypothetical statement
as in science they "Lets assume...."
something that doesn't OR can not exist in reality
face it
Re: Pakistan needs 159 years to catch up with industrialised nations
Pakistan needs to catch with what?
supremacy, bigotry, exploitation, corporate mentality, utter disregard for environment, social and personal unrest due to materialism, a quick sand of interest based fears that we buy and live in the fears of, while somebody easily makes money off of our hard earned monies and then uses them to fulfill unethical causes.
NO. Pakistan does not need to catch up with all this, not now and never.
instead, Pakistanis need to catch themselves from loosing their free land.
best,
Dushwari

Don't we already posses some of these "qualities" in our society?
Bigotry to wards those who we think don't agree to our point of view.
Exploitation on every level of our society.
utter disregard for environment, well not if on INDUSTRIAL scale to have a huge impact but still it exists, have you visited Pakistan? what you think about our waste management strategies? and of course our transportation system.
social and personal unrest due to poverty. (just day before yesterday some woman committed suicide with her kids, due to poverty)
Judicial system is a laugh, you can get away with anything if you have resources.
The point is that there is no harm in catching up IF it brings prosperity to common people. if it brings better health/Social/judicial services then why not!

Have you ever seen how poor in Pakistan living? Do you know the state of Sindh landless haries working in interior Sindh or for that matter in Punjab or other provinces? Have you ever thought of how hard working Labourers from Sarhad spend their time burning themselves on roads of Karachi? Did you ever thought of those Balochs who spend their entire life serving Sardars like slaves and still could not get single meal a day.
For you it might be fine living comfortably and thinking about Utopia of your own mind creation regardless of whatever the situation of Pakistani poor. Unfortunately, same is true of thug Pakistani politicians who are mostly rich and well provided (by hook or crook) and have no feelings of poor neither they care. One can see how these crook politicians spend millions to grow hair on their ganja head or feed Apple murrabba to their horses, move around from Dubai to London with army of Chamchas for mundane meetings and dinners (at most expensive hotels), without caring about those who they make fool and on whose name they steal so much of Pakistan whenever they get opportunity.
But in the end, truth is that poor of Pakistan can only get better life if Pakistan catches up with West in education, development, infrastructure, healthcare, prosperity and becomes richer.
Re: Pakistan needs 159 years to catch up with industrialised nations
^^ U forgot to mention about the one who is living in London, doing nothing but feeding on the money poor people after a whole day work.
I agree u r right on this, i don't know why these people don't think that how hard it is make the both ends meet, and yet they are there to take their piece.
On this issue, Sardars of Balochistan, the Politcians ( including the one sitting in London) and land-lords of Sindh and Punjab and NWFP are same.
