ISLAMABAD on Friday said the US diplomat, who had pointed gun at a Pakistani cop two days back, could be deported after declaring him persona non grata.
It is to be recalled that an American security official deployed at the US Embassy had exchanged harsh words with SHO Secretariat Hakim Khan when he was passing by the Embassy along with his family two days back. After exchange of harsh words, **US security official pointed gun at the SHO. However, private security officials present there intervened and calmed the situation. **
The SHO has alleged that the US diplomat not only used abusive language against him but he also uttered humiliating words against Pakistan.
Talking to the BBC, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said, “The US diplomat who has pointed gun at Pakistani police officer can be deported after declaring him persona non grata.”
He further said the Interior Ministry would soon receive an inquiry report about the incident and after having a thorough review of the matter, it would be decided either to summon the US Ambassador or any other Embassy official to lodge protest over the incident.
On the other side, the US Embassy spokesman said US officials were negotiating with Pakistani officials regarding the issue. He hoped that the matter would be resolved amicably. –Monitoring Desk

he will at the most be deported and that’s all because diplomats have immunity. but well done by the police officer for raising the issue. personally i would’ve liked to see the diplomat arrested and spend a few hours behind bars pending his release after all paperwork has been done.
oh well…some better than none!
