ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – According to the sources the technical experts of both the countries were supposed to hold talks on Monday regarding the import of electricity from India.
The sources added that two proposals were under consideration for electricity import.
A proposal suggests that 500 megawatts of electricity should be imported from India while the second proposal suggests that electricity can be provided to Lahore city from the nearest point for which installation of 440 KV transmission line is needed. The sources added if the project is matured, it would take 18 months duration to complete. The tariff on imported electricity has been suggested Rs 18 per unit while the consumers would have to pay Rs 21 per unit.

Re: Pakistan likely to import 500MW electricity from India
I saw a documentary - Paks installed capacity is more then its demand but do not have the money... If they cannot pay local power producers how are they going to pay India? Or is India selling cheap at rock bottom prices?
Re: Pakistan likely to import 500MW electricity from India
China’s border area with Pakistan is sparsely populated and has limited infrastructure. India is the only country which can easily and securely provide power to Pakistan.

According to media reports this electricity would be 21 rupees per unit which is far expensive as compared to the electricity generation in the country. It would just serve to increase out circular debt.
Re: Pakistan likely to import 500MW electricity from India
Well, I did wonder considering the fact that india itself is power hungry and is below the consumption for what they produced. We even couldn't squeeze the Eye-ranians for a cheaper gas price so laanat on the pakistani unpatriotic kind. I sometimes wonder why does God really care about Pakistan that much?
Re: Pakistan likely to import 500MW electricity from India
If N$ can make relations better with India, it will be blessing for Pakistan. A NAFTA or EU type treaty is very much in need. For God's sake, no more fighting with India. Pakistan need energy whether it comes from India or from Iran. Sooner the better.

Well, isnt India already stiffing us out on on our water supply in violation of all previously signed agreements? If we were to get our due share of water, we could perhaps build a few more dams to create more hydel power.
They manipulate our water supply routinely. Whats stopping them from doing the same with electricity?
