wot do u think ppl? Pak for sure will be victorious in wc 2003? Well looking at their current performance against Aussies Im pretty confident that they will take the crown!
On fast pitches like South Africa there is no way a team can win against Pakistani fast bowlers.
We have the top 3 fast bowlers on our side, and if we can annihlate the Australians on those pitches in australia than south africa will be even more fun to watch.
Regardless of having the inconsistent batting lineup Pakistan anre sure to win if we can have these 3 bowlers.
I sure hope so... but the inconsistency of the pakistani team could do anything, anytime...
atleast they’ll make it to the final…
but its always the finals where they r so disappoitning…
I really hope they do win it.
However I don't know much about the teams, ie. who's strong at the moment and who isn't, as the cricket coverage here in Austria is next to Null. So my only source of information about it, is the internet. The last cricket match I watched, was the final of Sharjah Cup in November 2001, when Pakistan crushed Sri Lanka.
Umer, the Pakistani Brain of Austria
Well.... if they ...the batsmen.. stay steady on their run-rates... and dominate the partnerships......
And Bowlers will Inshallah do their part of the job.... Ihope that Shoaib doesn't face any injuries....] And I think Abdul Razzaq Will show his performance once again....
As far as fixing... goes.... I think they are likely to get probation and a hefty fine who ever goes that way.....
Anywayz.... I hope they really take every single to make the most out of it...

i totally agree with u tipz! but i think now some of the senior players r at the stage of retirement and its their last chance to prove something ...u know leave the cricket of world with respect!!
i m sure they r gonna give their very best but lets just hope they dont get into fixing crap!!
I think PAK has a pretty good chance to win the WC 2003. I see some ppl here are saying they will be able to make it to semi or final. Well if PAK able to make it to semi I am 100% sure they will lift the trophy but if its not in their luck then I can’t say anything. There are number of reasons that I think PAK will win the worldcup.
-
As Umair mentioned SA pitches are really fast that will suite PAK well to help them lifth the trophy.
-
I am sure Waqar and Wasim they both will try to win the world cup since its going to be the last for both of them. I know Waqar has not yet said anything about his retirement but I am sure he won’t be able to make for the next worldcup or even if he does he won’t be a captain so he surely will try to lift the trophy. And since Wasim is going to retire he would try to help PAK win the world cup.
-
I am sure you guys have looked at the Pool standing. 7 teams a side. PAK in Pool A which include, AUS, ENG, PAK, IND, ZIM, Nambia, and Netherlands. The only tough team from the current point of view is AUS. So if PAK even loses 1 match they still can make to quarter finals. And I am sure once they are in quarter final the 2nd point I made above will come into effect with 200% of the team strenght. And rest you guys know PAK will be lifting the WC 2003.

We have 3 fast and world class bowlers plus comes the great all rounder Mr. Razzaq and a good opening pair Saeed and Nazir

Thats just my opinion anything can happen.

Think for the better and prepare for the worst
Some people say its too early to pick the lineup for the world cup, I think this is the perfect time for it.
This will look to be a tough choice for a lineup but this is the best I could come up with.
1.) Saeed Anwar
2.) Imran Nazir
3.) Yousuf Youhana
4.) Inzimam-ul-Haq
5.) Shahid Afridi
6.) Abdul Razzaq
7.) Rashid Latif
8.) Wasim Akram
9.) Waqar Younis
10.) Shoaib Akhtar
11.) Saqlain Mushtaq
I'm still shuffling between Afridi and Younis Khan, afridi can bowl and take wickets but younis khan is a solid batsman.
I think that a big factor will be the decline of the Aussie team which is starting to show signs of setting in. The Waugh brothers are past their prime and they will take some replacing. I think we will be joint favourites by the time the tournament starts.
This is shaping to be the best side that Pakistan has ever produced, and if fate doesn't go against us we have a great chance.
Umair that batting lineup is very very suspect. You have 2 outright tullahs manning two very important positions. I think this batting depends too much on Inzi and Yousaf.
I would drop Nazir for Malik and shuffle between Khan and Afridi though gut my tells me to play Younis.
Only one thing we are missing here. Coach!
I prefer JAVED MIANDAD
Sometimes, I do feel Pak Cricket team empty without Javed. Even Imran Khan has admired many times his credibility

You can't just not play Younis Khan, but how to fit him in, that is the question?

Replace him with Shahid Afridi - There are already 5 specialist bowlers, so no need to depend on Afridi's bowling and I Younis Khan is a much better batsman than Afridi.

The problem arises if one of the bowler is having an off day, then you need afridi as insurance. I personally would drop Nazir in favour of Younis Khan.
I would be happy seeing the embarass the Indians... Still, Their chances are VERY good.. Lets see the next game with aussies, if they win, then definently..

Afridi is a must, inconsistent but very good bowling, if a quality team like Australia is having a good partnership than Afridi is a main man to come in and break that partnership, he has done it in almost every occaision.
I still think Shoaib Mailk should be given more chances as a batsman outside Asia, the recent tour would have been perfect chance for him to play as an opener.
Saqlain is also another subcontinent bowler who has failed outsdie asia specially in south africa and australia. With an extra bounce that afridi will get along with his incredible leg spininig, he might become a fulltime replacement for Saqlain than our team will say goodbye to saqlain.
The only way Younis Khan can come in either having saqi or afridi out and I will pick afridi over saqi.
I think I have never seen Imran Nazir leave ball alone when its going offside, he always takes chances and most of the time he flicks it to the slip and that is not good when going against McGrath.

He is just a kid, he needs to be thought by some experienced batsman like Saeed. I would still keep Afridi and try to switch Nazir and Khan
