I understand we are all busy with the earthquake in Pakistan, but just wanted to share this information with you guys…
KARACHI (October 13 2005): Pakistan has joined the ranks of 14 developed countries researching and getting information on weather changes. “This became possible due to the efforts of Higher Education Commission (HEC) promoting research sector”, said Dr Iqball Mohsin, Vice-Chancellor Federal Urdu University, while congratulating the three-member team which carried out research and experiments on various species of pine trees in the Northern Areas.
This team, headed by Dr Moinuddin Ahmed, carried out research in the forests of Northern Areas on various species of pine trees for 17 days.
With this most modern technique, not only the weather changes in the near future can be ascertained but also research may be conducted on movement of glaciers, earthquakes, environmental pollution and river conditions.
Dr Moin said that this technique at present is being used by only 14 countries, and it is a matter of pride for the Urdu University.
