Pakistan: it is what we wanted (20 years ago) it to be!

The old adage!

---- What you sow, so shall you reap

holds true at every level of human achievement (or lack thereof).

Many on this board, tend to criticize the present situation in our beautiful country. And that’s perfectly OK.

But keep in mind, that what you see in Pakistan is what we or our previous generation sowed 20+ years ago.

And if we don’t like the harvest (bitter or sweat doesn’t matter), then it is time to fix our priorities and use a seed that is different from the type sown 20+ years ago.

And after we plant that new seed, then we must wait for 20 years for its fruit to bear.

Nations do not change in an instant. There is no microwaveable 10 second cooking when it comes to the national behavior. As it most likely will destroy the very essence of things we are trying to make.

Study! what was the seed selection criteria used 20 years ago.

Change that criteria (either in a small way or in a big way), then select the seed appropriately.

If we the educated elite continue looking for shortcuts and adhoc measures to fix things, then how could we ever expect from our leaders to adopt the techniques any different from us?

Therefore just keep in mind the 20 year (give and take few years) cycle in mind and we will definitely get somewhere close to where we want to be.

Re: Pakistan: it is what we wanted (20 years ago) it to be!

Leaders look for shortcuts and adhoc measures, so they have something to show in the next election. Whats the point of long term plan, that throws you out of the driving seat in the next poll.

Re: Pakistan: it is what we wanted (20 years ago) it to be!

Leaders take shortcuts and lootofy as much as they can because they know our dear military is going to conquer the country shortly anyways.

Good leadership is not easy. One has to look at both short term and long term goals.

Moreover, it boggles my mind is that so many of Pak educated elite, blame the top leadership and then go back to drinking chai.

Where is the role of leadership at the middle and bottom levels?
