Sports Reporter

Lahore—PCB XI, rode on a master unbeaten knock of 207 by Sami Aslam, imposed massive 302 runs defeat to visiting British Universities Charity XI in a one day match here on Wednesday at Gadaddi stadium.

Smai shone with a sterling knock and Umar Waheed smashed exact unbeaten 100 runs to propel home side to mammoth 388 for 2 in allotted 50 overs. The touring side fell cheaply at 86 in 27 overs, thanks to deadly bowling by medium pacer Mohammad Nawaz who was the pick of the home bowlers for capturing five wickets for just 2 runs in 6 overs.

Home captain Babar Azam won the toss on a bald wicket and elected to bat.

His decision paid rich dividends as home batsmen thrived on a placid wicket and went on to hit massive total to add to the worries of the British side.

Reliable opener Sami who consumed 155 balls, defied hot weather and British bowlers to produce a fine display of batting, smashing 22 boundaries and three sixes in a blistering knock which shattered the confidence of the opponents.

Double century maker Sami, who is notable performer of Pak U19 team for previous two years joined hands with half century maker Imam ul Haq (51 with four fours) to put on 120 runs for the second wicket and then joined century maker Umar Waheed to contribute 253 runs for the third wicket unbroken partnership. Umar faced 81 balls and slammed 8 fours.

When English side batted non of their batsmen could live upto the expectations and their wickets fell one after another as Nawaz broke the top order and received good help from Usman Qadir who took three wickets for 31 runs in 6 overs. Zia ul Haq and Mohammad Irfan each got one wicket.
