wow…are u really being honest about your description…tall, pretty, sharp features, light color, blue eyes…sounds too un-real for a south asian…
Ummah is spread over all different geographical regions. Are indonesian, malaysian and indian muslims also part of middle east b/c they are muslim? Pakistan has nothing to do with middle east. We are south asian muslims. Many of our grandfathers/fathers migrated from India and some of us still have distant relatives there. We have our separate country now. No need to try to create false differences to distance ourselves from our origins. No wonder people think we're confused.
Very well said. :k:

Well, my reply has been quoted quite a few times and I think its time to explain. The three times laugh was on the whole topic and Chann's Arabic, I didn't know such people existed with these kinds of wonderful thoughts. And let me tell you this, I have learned alot from this website and what people from different cultures/backgrounds have to say about things. The reason for my comment was I was trying to tell Chann Mahi that you don't have to be Middle eastern to have those features even South Asians have those unique features. You said "sounds too unreal for a south asian" Have you been to Kaghan, Naran, Peshawer, or Quetta. Our whole Pathan Bradarreyy is quite gifted with these features. Now, Don't try to tell me they are not south asians and where they migrated from. I could care less, All I know is they are Pakistanis living in Pakistan. As far as I'm concerned having those features yes I'm all of the above :)
No we are definitely NOT confused. It’s great that there are people whose forefathers migrated to Paksitan from India during Partition for the freedom of living in a Muslim country practising the same religion. This still undermines that basic fact that Pakistan is heavily influenced by Islam which has been brought over from the Middle East and the fact that the heritage/ancestry of most people in Pakistan originates from Central Asia (Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey) and the Middle East.

Well said :k: Mahnoor, be proud of who you are. I am also pretty light and am of Punjabi heritage, parents being from Chakwal which is in the northern region of Punjab, up by Islamabad/Rawalpindi. I have numerous relatives who are either darker than me or lighter with blue eyes and almsot blond hair. Our ancestry traces itself to Iran (ancient Persia) and we are of mixed Aryan, Greek, and Bactiran stock. Does that make me any better or worse than the next person? No way! I am just proud of the fact alone that I am Pakistani and that is what counts.

i did not mean to hurt anyone's emotions but if i did, i sincerely apologize......
Pakistan is on the crossroads between South Asia, Central Asia and the Middle East therefore various armies conquered it and this is reflected in our racial ethnicities and culture, in my opinion we’re all three.
It’s true that on average Indians are darker, light-dark brown and shorter than Pakistanis who are usually wheat, light brown and even white in complexion.
Of course there will be exceptions and overlaps in places.
It’s not really as black and white as people trying to make it, India is no one ethnicity or race and neither is Pakistan.
What happened to our Greek forefathers??? Forget the middle east! Deep down, we're really Romans and Greek Gods.
^ No need to mock here, Mehnaz. Just like my ancestry is quite diversified, I am sure that yours is too even though it may (or may not) have any "Greek" or what have you in it. You are missing the point altogether which is that Pakistanis are not people of a singular race, ethnicity, or traditions. What makes us so unique is knowing that we have these diversities among us yet we are similar and unified under the umbrella of one country and one religion. Hence this is where our strengths lie.
pakistan is unified??
thats news to me…
the last time i looked, the provinces wanted to break off into separate countries
just accept that we r pakistanis and brown.. :k: im proud to be a brownie
b/w does it really matter if ur ancestory was greek or african?
^ Yes Pakistan IS unified thus the name PAKISTAN instead of something totally different and yes we should be proud no matter what color God gave us and regardless of heritage. As long as we are Pakistani and are proud of this fact, that is all that matter in my book.
^ u sorta lost me... how does being unified relate to Pakistan?
Pakistan means the land of pure.. not unity
in a place where we're punjabis cant get along with urdu speaking (even though thats the national langauge).. where christians teens are shot for raising a voice against brutality
thats unity?
this news contradicts “pakistan is not south
asian nation”
Islamabad to propose Kabul for SAARC membership

I don’t think the compass name matters too much because it’s only to show our location it does not have anything to do with race or culture.
What we do know is that Pakistan is distinct and separate from India and that’s what matters.
Most our people would look like Jamaali (minus the flab) not P. Musharaff.
Language is the only main similarity between Pakistan and India, they are usually darker, they wear sari and kurta pazama, they eat spicier and vegetrianer foods, they speak Hindi and they are mostly Hindus we on the other hand are fairer, we wear shalwar kamiz, we speak Urdu, our dishes are meatier and not as hot ‘n’ spicy and above all we are Muslims.
I can tell an Indian from a Pakistani from a mile off, both from looks and body odour.
It’s true Pakistanis are a mixed bag, various armies have conquered this region for centuries and left their genes and culture through marriage and rape.
sweetiepie is right about the Greek blood, Alexander’s army did pass through here.
Indians, (some) Pakistani Mahajirs and Pakistanis who have nothing better than to watch Bollywood all day like to pretend the only difference is religion, it’s a lot more than that.
There will be a few similarities, that’s inevitable when we’re right next to each other but that does not by any means mean that we are one and the same, we have similarities with Iran and Afghanistan too, big deal.

i do agree bangaldeshi can easily integrated in india thanin pakistan same is true for indian muslims because religen
cant be soul basis of nationhood. two nation theory based on religen only wont work.
Every nation has the right to decide to which part of the world it belongs, culturally or racially. If Turks can be european then Pakistanis also can be central asians or middle easterns.
But labelling the people of other nations as being short or dark-skinned is discriminatory and should not be tolerated. Pakistanis are a mixture mainly of those people who came and settled down in the Indus valley in the last 5 thousand years and we should be proud of it.
We are human beings in the first place and should respect each other. Pakistan and India are two neighbouring countries, we've to live with each other and we've to learn to live with each other.
Asalaamalaikum, thats exactly what i was trying to say, before some moderater ( don't know why why...i was just venting) deleted my post, so what, Pakistan and India have differences, big whoop, congrats on your fair skinned, taller people, i mean...seriously, what are you expecting out of this thread, a prize for for recognizing that? pish..i think people like panjadaria and wuts his face have no life, and like to pick at stupid things like how people look, and then call themselves muslims. DON'T DELETE THIS THREAD! I DIDNT OFFEND ANYBODY! LOL. :p

Good points.
Well Turkey being a part of Europe in my opinion is just plain wrong because I think Turkey belongs in the Middle East, rightfully. The country faces inferiority complex issues and tries to kiss up to the West for no good reason. Kemal Ataturk didn't do the right thing by making the use of Latin alphabet acceptable and doing away with the Arabic script. But hey, that's just my two cents. The situation doesn't compare to the case of Pakistan-India at all.
I do agree that color differences and other differences aside, we are all part of the human race and should respect each other as such. To me, ultimately what matters is that we are recognized as Muslim and Pakistani. Does it really matter if one is white, black, short, tall, fat, skinny, etc.?
Shawaiz Bhaijan, where did you take geography courses to say this “Every nation has the right to decide to which part of the world it belongs,…”. It doesn’t work like that. Part of Turkey is west of the Caucuses, that’s why that part is in Europe…. Turkey is not middle east, but near east (aka Asia minor). Invest in a nice map.
