In real terms our economy has shrunk from 160 bn to 150 bn owing to collapse of the rupee against the USD. This cancels out nominal growth of about 4.5-5% and will wipe out growth for a good few years.
I dont see any way out of Pak’s mess. Do you?

The whole world is in recession.
The fact that Pakistan has to deal with the accumulated mess of the last 8 years makes the situation even worse
Pakistan facing bankruptcy - Telegraph
The government is engulfed by crises left behind by Pervez Musharraf, the military ruler who resigned the presidency in August. High oil prices have combined with endemic corruption and mismanagement to inflict huge damage on the economy.
While Mr Musharraf’s prime minister, Shaukat Aziz, frequently likened Pakistan to a “Tiger economy”, the former government left an economy on the brink of ruin without any durable base.
Re: Pakistan is in recession.
At this rate, Pakistan is shortly going to reach the point where we will stop having to even try to have a military capable of fighting India.
The military budget would have to be cut to such a point where we will only be able to hope that India won't be tempted to sieze Azad Kashmir and any parts of Pakistan itself.
Re: Pakistan is in recession.
^^ we got nukes......so any attempt by india to seize azad kashmir will be met by a nuclear attack and since the entire world is outsourcing to India
Many countries will force both sides to come to peace before hostilities break out like what happened in 2002

Actually thats a good point. Pakistan has to curtail its expenses where it can. Not only this, it must curtail the lavish expenses of Parliamentarians and Bureaucrats. A visit of Zardari from normal flight is one of the good examples. But we definitely need many more like that.
Good point :k:

mercenary2k bhaijan. According to Great Zardari (the President of Pakistan), India is NOT and has NEVER BEEN a threat to Pakistan. So Pakistan is safe. The people around the world now want to know why does Pakistan needs its Nuclear weapons - especially when Great Zardari (the President of Pakistan) believes that there is NO THREAT from India?
It seems Kashmir is more important to you than Pakistan ![]()
Re: Pakistan is in recession.
Harsh facts:
We cannot match India on any level. They have always had macro-level stability. Our instability is central to our problems.
We cant maintain military parity. We can rely only on India's unwillingness to engage in war and on nukes. Frankly, the military blackhole has been the wrong priority for decades, just sucking in resources.
We need to adapt our army by turning much of it into an anti-insurgency, defence force. Nukes provide the external security. What is the bigger thread, Muzzie terrorists or India?
Pak needs a revolution. Preferably a strongly secular one, but I'd take any competent one now.
