India was dealt a blow when vice captain Yuvraj Singh was withdrawn from the Champions Trophy after breaking a finger during fielding practice on Wednesday. He will be out for six weeks because of the injury to his right hand, and will be replaced in the squad by Virat Kohli.
Pakistan captain Younis Khan also broke a finger on his right hand while going for a catch in the slips during a warmup game against West Indies last Friday. But Khan is hoping to be ready to play in his side’s second game against India in Centurion on Saturday.
Pakistan, led by Shahid Afridi, began its Champions Trophy campaign with a five-wicket win against West Indies on Wednesday. Other Indian players injured ahead of the tournament were opening batsman Virender Sehwag (shoulder), and fellow opener Gautam Gambhir (groin). Gambhir did not play in the practice match against New Zealand, while Sehwag did not make the trip to South Africa.
No matter how fit a sailor or engineer on the ship is or how sick the captain is, ship still needs captain. Ship can sail without first engineer or sailor but not without captain :)
^ There is a big difference, because Yuvi is in form while Younis is not. Having Younis in the Pak sqaud might actually help India :)
Re: Pakistan, India lose key batsmen ahead of cricket trophy match
The team which boast that they have the best batting line up in the universe is nervous because one batsmen is out. What happened to all the others. Tsk Tsk. Says it all.
