I hate to shatter your dreams of being middle eastern, but Pakistan is considered in South Asia.

what difference does it make if pakistan is in middle east, south asia or central asia.
I just came across this map, depicting Pakistan in Central Asia. So what do you think, Pakistan is part of what region?
I havent heard of pakistan beng referred to as a central asian county. I always read that central asia referred to the russian republics (e.g. Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan) maybe Afghnaistan and Iran. But some people may see it differently.
South Asia.
yeah Pakistan happens to be in Sounth Asia but no doubt in some places including a few books afghanistan, iran and pakistan are considered to be included in what is called the Middle East.

The US Department of Defense Centeral Command has lumped Pakistan with Middle East, Centeral Asia, and the Horn of Africa in their Area of Responsibility (AoR):

According to DOD, Pakistan belongs with all the other guys. Maybe thats because, they see that Pakistan has more in common with the countries in ME, CAR, and the Horn of Africa.
On the other hand India and all the other South Asian countries are in the Pacific Command's AoR.
I think this is serious since the Central Command is the most active theatre in all of DOD.

That book must be written by some middle-eastern expert of CNN or FOX. :)
It's in South Asia definately.
But sometimes ignorant journalists lump it with the Middle East.
