Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
Have you ever heard in urdu "Sabz Bagh dikhana", that is what singing competition is providing to us. Lure the young's mind towards this "hay come and sing with us, compete and win this competition, identify yourself as a singer, get respect and fame, gain more and more money. You can have all the luxurious of this world and you'll become more happy then ever.
On the other hand, let people die of hunger, let people turns to dog meat or whatever, you grab what u can and enjoy your moment and this your life, which you'll never get again, make it worthy by neglecting the reality. Just think about yourself and enjoy.
So far what good is coming out from this singing competition anyway?
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
We are heading backwards, that’s where we are heading. There’s nothing unconstitutional about having a singing competition on tv in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Singing is very much a part of Pakistani culture. If the religiously inclined feel that this is against their believes then I suggest that they don’t watch the show or take part in it.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
Even if we keep a side our religiously inclined feelings, still a question arise in our mind that roughly there are some 400+ millions viewers. But some 6+ billions voters voted for the participants. Charges per SMS is 5 Rupees + tax for votes as well for registration. Do the math and guess where this all money goes? Yet we don’t pay or think twice or triple time or more while giving a single penny to a needy poor.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
There is a very long list of what is haram and what is halal in Islam. Why pick on singing and music?
But this show will not select a Pakistan idol who is talented and truly deserves to be an idol. They rejected so many good voices just cause Hadiqa and Ali Azmat think they are really great singers and really know more than anyone else what sur taal really is. Hadiqa rejected a girl from Multan cause she said she wasn't singing in her original voice and that they needed heavier voices. Just cuz Hadiqa doesn't have a surili rasili voice, doesn't mean everyone else needs to sing like her.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
Whatever
This Pakistan Idol show sucks. I would rather hang myself in shame than to watch this show with my family. BUT don’t be surprised, it airs on Geo and you know what to expect.
Take that Waqar Zaka show (living on the edge) for an example where girls kicking boys in the nuts and girls wearing the shortest dress possible was everyday’s menu, show any single episode to someone who died during 1947 and came back from dead and would he think that Pakistan is a muslim country? I think he would die again.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
Isn’t “Islamic Republic”
I beg ur part but as per my little knowledge, singing and music both are forbidden in Islam.
I think this analogy is wrong. Lil kids welcome Prophet PBUH but nowadays, we are welcoming whom by singing? I might be wrong and hope somebody will correct me
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
Pakistan is not ‘literally’ an Islamic country anymore.
If singing is haram then poetry/ghazals has got to be haram as well. I’m not talking about crap/vulgar songs which are played these days. Singing patriotic songs naghmay/national anthems/ghazals aren’t haram. Musical instruments (excluding duffli) are completely haram.
How about a separate thread in Religion forum concerning singing? Maybe we’ll receive some better replies.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
How freaking insensitive! I think Jinnah would be rolling in his grave because of this comment, and I’m sure you’d call him a “liberal-fascist” if he was alive today. Pakistan wasn’t created a wahabi state, nor was it created as an Islamic republic. Please study your history. Pakistanis were much more secure in their religious faith back in the day than now. They didn’t need to emulate Saudi culture to feel more Muslim. If it was up to people like you, we would never have had legends like Noor Jehan or Nazia Hassan.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
Moron or oxymoron? Please tear off your passport for having “Islamic republic” of Pakistan on it’s cover.
If Pakistan was not created as an Islamic Republic then why have your grandparents moved from India to Pakistan? Please practice your modernism and secularism in West, Pakistan is an Islamic Republic.
If girls kicking guys between the legs, kissing and wearing revealing dress on a reality show amuses you and you happily watch while sitting with your family? Then let me remain highly freaking insensitive because a “ghairatmand” muslim won’t like it.
If it was up to people like you, bikinis and kickers would have been our national dresses.
Now excuse my back, this ain’t no PA forum. This thread gonna get locked anyway.
Re: Pakistan Idols - Where We Are Heading Towards?
LK bro like many others have pointed out, you need to prioritize what social issues you go after. There are many vices prevalent in our society today and on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being least important) this issue rates at 0.5.
Also, music is being propagated in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan ever since it's birth. Since the inception of Gupshup in 1969 not a day has gone by when someone hasn't opened a thread about or talked about music. So why bring this up now?
I believe your contempt for this show is fueled by the fact that the Idol series is copied from American Idol and then Indian Idol. Just like when someone in Pakistan decides to go vegetarian people call them hindu/indian etc.
