Pakistan take on Russia today in 4-nation hockey
KARACHI, July 4: Pakistan will take on Russia as favourites in the four-nation hockey tournament which begins in Moscow on Thursday.
Pakistan, ranked number five in the world, are unlikely to face resistance as they will be playing against world number 22 Scotland, world number 41 Russia and Ukraine who are placed at 45th spot in the rankings.
The final will be played on Sunday. The team is scheduled to return home Russia on July 9.—PPI

Pakistan beat Russia by 6-2 in the first match.

Finally they won the tournement, although an invitational one, beat Soctland 4-0 in the final. Earlier on Saturday they defeated Ukrain by 5-0.
This is a non-ranking tournment.

Mostar thanks for the updates but I lost interest in hockey a long time ago (and it seems most people on GS as well). There was a time when I used to watch all hockey matches with great fondness when we had THAT dream forward line of Sami (pure pace), Hanif (great hockey mind), Hasan Sardar (sheer class, a magician), Manzoor Junior (a master dribbler) and Kaleem. Don't think those glory days will ever come back. These days our hockey team is so bad and unpredictable that even if they somehow beat Australia or Holland in the semis, there's every chance of them losing against a relatively weaker time like Korea or China in the final! I think it's to do with stamina rather than skill. Our forwards simply don't have the fitness to run with the ball for the full 70 minutes of play
