**Pakistan Hockey Goal Keeper Mohammad Qasim died today inna lillah wa inna 'ilayhi raji’un in Gojra at the age of 32 years due to cancer. InnalilLah wa inna ilaihi raji’un.
He leaves a wife and a young daughter behind.
Mohammad Qasim, who represented Pakistan in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, was hit in the chest by a ball during Pakistan’s tune-up for the European tour in April 2004. He underwent two surgeries to remove a clotting, but both were unsuccessful due to accumulation of water in his lungs.
On doctors advice, he underwent tests at the Shaukat Khanam Memorial hospital, which confirmed he has cancer.
The Pakistan cricket team recently donated Rs 200,000 ($3500) to help Qasim meet the expenses of his treatment when Pakistan Hockey federation refused for any help.
In 2005 he went to USA for treatment after lots of struggle but there was nothing the doctors could do for him since he arrive very late for treatment.

Its weird that Cricket Board thought of him but not his own PHF. And where was the Govt (sports minister).
I hope his family is well taken care off financially since they might had to spend even the last penny on him.

They showed a video of him on Geo of before he passed away and he was saying ke Insha allah i will recover soon etc,.........phir they showed his baby daughter, he was holding her in his lap and his wife was sitting next 2 him,.MashaAllah she was very pretty too,.........:(

He was one heck of a keeper, too good. I remember when we won the world cup/champions trophy against germany when he stopped a penalty.
