The United States has been conducting secret reconnaissance missions inside Iran to help identify potential nuclear, chemical and missile targets, The New Yorker magazine reports.
The article, by award-winning reporter Seymour Hersh, said the secret missions have been going on at least since last summer with the goal of identifying target information for three dozen or more suspected sites.
Hersh quotes one government consultant with close ties to the Pentagon as saying, “The civilians in the Pentagon want to go into Iran and destroy as much of the military infrastructure as possible.”

The former intelligence official told Hersh that an American commando task force in South Asia is working closely with a group of Pakistani scientists who had dealt with their Iranian counterparts.
**The New Yorker reports that this task force, aided by information from Pakistan, has been penetrating into eastern Iran in a hunt for underground nuclear-weapons installations.
In exchange for this cooperation, the official told Hersh, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has received assurances that his government will not have to turn over Abdul Qadeer Khan, the father of Pakistan’s atomic bomb, to face questioning about his role in selling nuclear secrets to Iran, Libya and North Korea.**
Hersh reported that Bush has already “signed a series of top-secret findings and executive orders authorizing secret commando groups and other Special Forces units to conduct covert operations against suspected terrorist targets in as many as 10 nations in the Middle East and South Asia.”

US always has been trying to seek information and doing under cover operations in IRan and many other countries. They will keep this up anyway with or without Pak support.
why would they use eastern border when they already in Afghanistan, and IRaq ;)
I dont think Pakistan will risk creating another enemy on the western border by actively taking part in this kind of operation.
only cause AQ Khan is not handed over to world "superme" justice player USA, this kind of co operation is way too out of weight against that.
This may also be try to create more bitterness between Pak and Iran.

The hatred of shias has reached a new pinnacle in Pakistan. Now its gov't is supporting a hegemonic neo-colonial superpower, whose belligerant foreign policies have landed it in so much trouble that it is looking to be bailed out by opening up another front. Pakistan needs to figure out if its serious about the viability of its statehood. If this back stabbing and hatred of shias' continue in and of Pakistan then Shias outside and within the borders of Pakistan would make the survival of Pakistan a serious impossibility.

yara, you make it sound like every Pakistani Sunni wakes up in the morning thinking of harming Shias. Pakistans relations with Irn have been soured, it’s not a Shia thing.

Thats being delusional, if anything it is a shia thing. Both countries have conflicting goals and interests in the region.....And these opposite interests arise out of the ideological and theological difference between the two countries.

There is no shia-sunni game going on between Iran and pakistan.The thing is Iran gave our nuclear secrets to IAEA and made startling revelations about our nuclear programme so pakistan was not very happy with the Iran on it's cooperation with the atomic agency so she decided to take a revenge.pakistani forces did millitary exercise with uk and us special forces in port city karachi in cant area because karachi has striking resemblance with the major cities of Iran.
That's what I read in the article and I wish that pakistan should not cooperate with Uncle sam
