Pakistan have been out of form in recent weeks

Pakistan have sacked team manager Yawar Saeed ahead of next month’s Test series against Australia.
The 72-year-old is the second casualty following a recent run of poor results, with coach Mudassar Nazar losing his job earlier this month.

It is expected that former manager Brigadier Khawaja Muhammad Nasir will replace Saeed, who was first appointed in 1984 and has filled the post on a number of occasions since then.

The series against Australia will be played at neutral venues, with the first Test taking place in Sri Lanka and the second and third games in Sharjah.

South African-based Englishman Richard Pybus has already been named as Mudassar’s successor - the third time he has coached the team.

Pakistan began the year impressively and won the three-match Super Challenge II series in Australia.

But they have struggled since then at the inaugural Morocco Cup and a Tri-Series in Kenya.

They also failed to progress from their group at the ICC Champions Trophy in Colombo after losing to Sri Lanka in the opening game of the 12-nation tournament.

Very good news! :k: :k:

yeah...
maybe its good for the team

How about making Zaheer Abbas as a Manager of Pakistan? :ahaa:

would the changing of coach and manager change any result??? if there is a rift in team.... Wasim and Saeed taking rest, perhaps Inzimam is also out of upcoming series.

Khawaja Nasir appointed as Pak cricket team manager

**LAHORE, September 27 (PNS): Brig (retd) Khwaja Nasir has been appointed as new manager of the Pakistan cricket team after the exit of Yawar Saeed and would join the team shortly at Colombo. **

This was decided after the meeting of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia with former team manager Yawar Saeed here on Thursday.

Yawar requested the Chairman that due to his personal engagements, he be relived from his duties as manager.

He felt that because of his professional commitments back home, he would not be able to continue till March 2003, especially because the Australian series, which Yawar had previously thought would be held at home, was now to be played on neutral venue.

Yawar however, assured the Chairman PCB that his best wishes remained with the Pakistan team and the PCB. “They are highly capable and talented bunch, and I am positive that they would soon leave the recent disappointment behind them. I wish them all the luck”, said Yawar.

Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia most profusely thanked Yawar for his contribution to the cause of Pakistan cricket. “I have great regard for your work for the PCB in recent years, and I feel sorry that you have decided to leave for personal reasons”, said Tauqir Zia.

Earlier Yawar Saeed also apprised Chairman PCB of the factors responsible for the dip in the side’s performance in recent games.

In a detail briefing, Yawar recounted the reasons and incidents that had an adverse effect on the team’s performance since the Morocco Cup three nation tournament. The main factor, according to Yawar was physical fitness of senior players and injuries to key players, such as Inzamam-ul-Haq and Yousuf Yuhana.

Newly appointed team manager Brig (retd) Khwaja Nasir would join the team shortly at Colombo, along with Mohammad Zahid, who has satisfied the PCB selectors with regards to his fitness, and Sikandar Bakht, who has been reappointed as Analyst with the team.
