Interesting new discovery in Pakistan.
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
Pakistan also has the second largest coal reserves in the world.

reserves of 175.5 billion tons of coal.
It was in 1992 that the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP) discovered huge sub-surface deposits of coal—- the largest in the world —in Thar District (Sindh).
http://www.paktribune.com/news/print.php?id=155007
Thar coal in Sindh province is the World’s largest coal reserve. Still, only one per cent coal is being used for power generation in Pakistan. As against this, 55 per cent electricity in neighboring India is based on coal, 58 per cent in Germany, 90 per cent in Poland, 50 per cent in Australia and 38 per cent in Russia. Just two per cent of its use for power production can ensure more than 20,000 megawatt of electricity for more than 40 years.
There are confirmed estimates that its reserves were equivalent to at least 850 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of gas – about 30 times higher than Pakistan’s proven gas reserves of 28 TCF. Students in the primary classes used to be taught decades ago that Pakistan has one of the largest coal reserves. It is a million dollar question as to why the use of these reserves is still far from reality. Why these resources remain untapped and lobbies provide joyride trips to the authorities in the energy ministries for fuel imports, both in the form of petroleum, natural gas pipelines and liquefied natural gases. A big question mark on their integrity, vision, planning and professional capacity.
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
Pakistan atomic energy commission, all it wants to convey is "So what if India gets nuclear deal from US?? we have 1000 uranium reserves with us. So even if we dont get any nuclear deal we can very easily manage"....
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
@Abdali you cant quite pump coal into your car. Name any economy which does not rely on oil and gas.
You would also know Poland is being blasted for using so much coal in electricity production. It is very dirty in terms of enviroment damage.

WoW, did I said we are gona pump coal for gas.!!!!!!!!... Do you know that Ontario is 1000 times cleaner then Pakistan and do you know what percent of Ontario is coal fired.

genius we had bigger deals with China long before recent US proliferation to India.
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
…thats true actually:hehe:. But still, when clearly choosing not to give similar deal when pakistan asked for it, pakistan atomic energy commission must have felt very bad. whatever…why do they care? Department of atomic energy in India after years of looking for uranium didn’t find much within India. So it was badly needed as already one power plant in rajasthan was facing shut down due to lack of uranium and deal is with strict controls. So it is all for generating power and having an extra 100 nuclear bombs when already having 100 of them wont make any difference for pakistan or for india.
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
PAC must have felt!! I am sure they called you and left a Voicemail.. LOL…

So coal is cleaner than nuclear and hydro electrical for electricty production? prove that and get yourself a Nobel prize.
So what if we have larege amounts of coal. a LOT depends on what type of coal. UK has plenty but still imports large quantaties as it is just not upto scratch for todays requirments.

First it was pumping coal for gas, then it was cleaner fuel, coal -v- nuclear..LOL... Are you seeing things??... Try to comprehend first, try to figure out supply and demand, availability of resources, feasibility study, why are first world countries using coal fire power stations when they have access to nuclear technology, why is Pakistan with the help of China setting up coal fired power stations why is India 50 percent dependent on coal fire for electricity production, any idea?
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
Its true that just coal does not do much.. and its not compared to uranium or any other reserves... but still... coal electricity production is not 2 bad.. abdali is correct there.. coal based THERMAL POWER is the majority of power prouduced in all Canada... next is Hydro (water based)... but yeah Canada is taking huge steps towards tapping more hydro power and rapidly expanding nuclear and wind power.... bcoz of coal's environmental damage.. but then again PAkistan being a 3rd world country doesnt always have to set high standards of environmental friendly poewr plants..
in any case.. it's good news for Pakistan and they should tap their resources meticulously.. but ALSO.. its nothing huge to be tooooo excited about..
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
India has world’s second largest thorium reserve…and it all depends on Fast Breeder Reactor programm…once we are through this we can extract uranium out of it and achieve energy security goal ![]()

You have a problemwith oil imports. Run you car off coal then.
first world countries are trying to move away from coal aint that obvious. Look at France, UK etc...
China is using more coal becuase it is cheap and fast. Nuc take a little longer to build. If you are so sure ministers are corrupted for importing oil then prove it than making easy allegations.
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
Maybe our largest part of economy, farmers can have steam powerd tractors.

Pakistan is not France, UK, Canada or even China isn't that obvious... Start right at the top and go line by line.
Re: Pakistan has 1,000 uranium reserves: report
so Pakistan should make use of coal becuase it is not France? what is your argument. One minute it's corrupt minsiters then something else.

LOL, you seem to have comprehension problem... Did I said corruption, coal for cars, nuclear -v- coal... anywhere...
And yes Pakistan should meet its energy needs with from whaever resources are available, be it coal, oil, hydro or nuclear and give huge amount of coal reserves Pakistan is making the right choice of utilizing them.
