Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

What next. Man I’d love to drop cash in the Pak economy, but its just so unpredictable. At least we can all see the trend for next year.

Re: Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

Its all downhill from now, until there is another military coup or a sane leader (like Musharraf).

There won't be any sane leader after President Musharraf and there won't be a new face for a loooooooooooooooooong time.

Its interesting what forbes had to say in the article, especially the first paragraph I posted.

its in the original post, friendo... :)

Re: Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

I wonder how many Pakis wish Mush was running the country again

Re: Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

To be honest, all I want is someone pushing and enforcing economic laws at ALL costs, in the short run (maybe 10 -18 years). I just don't see that happening with democracy and the closest anyone came to doing that was musharraf.

Not a financial expert, but did find that theory attractive and a great fit as I read and observed, and reflected on ze status quo

You dont need to wonder, plenty of dwindling popularity surveys are available.

Re: Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

^^ ya thats because every stupid action done by this democratically elected government is being blamed on Musharraf

I think Musharraf should resign and see this cartoon government falter and then we will see the real results of such polls

The New Government has been a total disaster for Pakistan

Re: Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

5.8% isn't bad at all as long as inflation rate is brought down under 3.

I wish we all were supporter of true justice system and not wishy-washy system.

Everyone can see what Musharraf is causing by still holding the chair even when he can see the writing on the wall, but no "Pakistan needs me" has knocked his senses out of head.

hahaha. never gonna happen with PPP/PML-N in power. Ever seen their past history? BB could not keep inflation below 10%, not once, in her term in office.

Re: Pakistan Growth Dwindles to 5.8 percent

investment only follow stable countries they dont care if its run by a dictator or a strong leader as long there is stability and less corruption they will invest in Pakistan.

but unfortunately after the govt change, we now have weak president and mish mash leadership in the county again a very weak. so thats we end up with now. 5.8 is still ok given the last year pseudo dramas.

see it go down more if the acrobats dont get their act together for the country! instead of scoring in some revenge polictics

PML-N and PPP though in govt, they are different parties and will be different. they are together somehow for few needs, 1st power, 2nd corruption and 3rd may be revenge on musharraf!

Ampur bhaijan. You forgot add the 'restoration of the EX CJ and former PCO judges'. :)

5.8 percent growth is quite good regardless of any inflation figure.

It seems that you are mistaking real growth with nominal growth. Pakistan's 5.8 percent is real growth. Nominal growth would be growth due to inflation plus real growth. For instance:

If inflation is 10 percent and real growth is 5.8 percent than nominal growth would be 16.4 percent.

If inflation is 3 percent and real growth is 5.8 percent than nominal growth would be 8.95 percent.
