Trade with India is in the best interest of both the countries.** But as I said earlier unless military approves it, it is not going to happen. Same thing happened to Gas Pipe Line project with Iran as Uncle Sam was not happy therefore military was not happy. That project is still in doldrums. Zardari’s government has no free hand in deciding key issues such as this one. Foreign affairs is still controlled by military. **It is very unfortunate situation for the country. I wonder how Ik or NS would have dealt differrently? Would they uphold the sanctity of parliament or the military dictation knowing that such agreements would benefit Pakistan a lot, particularly in the field of heavy machinery, IT, Food, healthcare, Railways etc.

Well the day when we find out how governments are elected/selected this riddle will be solved.

1. If the governments are elected they are answerable to the people, if they are selected then that’s another issue (they will remain indebted to the people selecting them)
2. If the government cant have its policies implemented then that’s the failure of the government, nothing to be proud of
