Pakistan fail to qualify for the Junior Mens World Cup

Again that's not true. Just like Europe there were 8 Teams in Junior Asian Qualifier too. Pakistan, India, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Oman, Bangladesh and Singapore.

Euro Junior Hockey Championship also has 8 teams from where 6 would qualify. Last 2 teams would be relegated to the Euro Trophy next time.

Euro Junior Trophy is only played to provide the 2 replacement teams for the euro junior championship next time.

There are not many teams competing in the Europe as compared to the Asia either. In Euro Trophy(the european tournament where all second class teams play) there are teams whose world ranking is mainly from 25-50.

Pakistan( and Japan are still above many European teams and should qualify above the likes of Poland(number 18th in world) or Scotland(number 22nd in the world).

Try to read my above post carefully.

Re: Pakistan fail to qualify for the Junior Mens World Cup

You are right on the ranking issue but still more European countries play hockey than in Asia.

Its 7 number of eurpean nations among top 20 and 32 among top 75 countries.

Similarly 6 Asian teams are in top 20. South Korea(5), Pakistan(7), India(9), Japan(12), Malaysia(14) and China(17). Besides from a bunch of 8 European teams 6 would qualify. So easily 4 Asian teams should be there besides the 2 hosts. In terms of number of Europeans playing, well Europe has more countries listed at the bottom as almost all European countries play hockey.

Anyways FIH is going to take a final decision during the Olympics for the exact quota, as they are planning to have 20 teams in the next years JWC. Let’s see.
