Even prominent Pakistanis such as Pir Pagaro are saying Kashmir was not Pakistan’s, never was and never would be.
This is the reality!
Situation in Pak similar to what led to B’desh war
Pakistani political leaders and media have warned that the prevailing situation in the country had “ominous similarities” with that, which led to the creation of Bangladesh over three decades ago this month.
“Kashmir was not Pakistan’s, never was and never would be,” Pir Pagaro, the chief of the Functional Muslim League, was quoted as saying by the Urdu publication Nawa-e-Waqt.
According to its translation by The Friday Times, he had said this “long ago and was willing to restate his position” on the issue.
Another prominent political personality, Altaf Hussain, has made a strong plea for “restoration” of the “due rights of the provinces” and warned that the nation was “facing a 1971-like situation”.
Hussain, chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, said, “The Bengalis, instead of being given the right to govern after their electoral victory in December, 1970, were labelled as enemies of the state,” a report in the Jang said.
“He remarked that instead of learning lessons from the tragedy that fell the nation in 1971 (liberation of Bangladesh), a policy of dictation and coercion against smaller provinces like Sindh and Balochistan and to some extent in North West Frontier Province, was still being followed,” the report quoted him as saying.
In an editorial, another prominent daily The Nation said, “As the present situation in Pakistan has certain ominous similarities with that of the late 1960s that ultimately led to the creation of Bangladesh, they generate a sense of alarm among the political conscious.”
