Only a few years ago, I think it was only a third or so of this figure, so this is pretty impressive news.

Pakistan exports to UK exceed $1b
Pakistan’s exports to the UK in 2003 exceeded the $1 billion mark for the first time, registering a nine percent increase as compared to the last year, which reflects growing commercial ties between the two countries. This increase was reflected by the latest figures released by the British Statistical office of Customs and Excise here. According to the data, the export figures for Pakistan for the year 2003 showed that Islamabad’s exports to UK amounted to $1.028 billion. These are nine percent higher compared to last year figure of $879.512 million.
Pakistan’s total trade with UK reached $1595 billion compared to last year’s total trade of $1.318 billion, which is an increase of 21 percent over last year. The balance of trade continues to remain in favour of Pakistan. Major increases have been registered in exports of apparel and clothing (12 percent), rice (51 percent), fruits and vegetables (25 percent), footwear (12 percent), furniture (21 percent) and power generating equipment. On the import side, Pakistan’s imports during the year 2003 were $567 million compared to $438 million last year. —APP
