As the new year starts, I wish all of KK visitors and a happy new year. I would like to have your opinions on cricket series, specially involving pakistan.
Oneday series in Australia
India host Pakistan in feb-March
WI host pakistan in may
Pakistan host England in november
I think out of these series, pakistan will do well in one day series, might be able to beat India and will ebat West Indies. England will beat us at home for the second time in a row.
Regarding players and captaincy. I think Bob Woolmer will stay coach but either YoYo or Shoaib will replace Inzi as captain.
-Imran Farhat will be lost in domestic competitions.
-Taufiq Umar will make a comeback in the team and will form a good opening pair with Butt who will continue to shine as an opener.
-Shoaib Malik will modify his bowling action and will suffer as a bowler for a while but his batting abilities will keep him in the team.
-Shabbir Ahmad will make a successful comeback and will continue to perform alongwith Shoaib but Sami will be dropped for a while.
-Moin or Rashid will make a comeback in the team for the upcoming oneday series and series against India but some other yougn wicket keeper will be blooded in the team and Kamran Akmal will be dropped (depends on his performance in last test match)
All those predictions sound probable, however, Rashid Latif is done for. He has made one too many enemies to earn a number in the national team. Moin Khan is getting too old, I think Akmal will be remain with the team as he will prove to be an asset for years to come. If Moin Khan is retained as a WK, then he poses a threat to Inzi's captaincy as the latter's ability to be leader will be questioned.
Drop the current first three batsmen. They are useless and have failed miserably and consistently. They show no thought to their approach and have not learnt from any of their mistakes. Maybe they are incapable of learning.
I have stopped my children from watching TV interviews with Paki cricketers, on the grounds that their English is being ruined by watching these buffoons.
I would really hate to be a fan of Pak cricket these days. I guess there are people out there who really believe that Pakistan can still win a Test match these days by virtue of the fact that
a) it is Pakistan so they will win
b) superstars will one day click and perform.
These are the forelorn hopes of misplaced loyalty.
why do we cricticize pakistani players on not speaking good english..
why do we act to promote this language instead of own
same problem at school whento talk to pakistanis in urdu (speciall to girls) they think if they speak urdu that'll bring down thr pride.( except a few)
dunno why we critisize our watanis for not speaking good english...
mujhay tho barha pasand hay jab woh iss tarah unique english boltay hain ... makes me think we're unique and value our own language ..
biggy up for all the broken english speakers in paki team. :D

The answer is simple. By not speaking English properly in this day and age of instant communication, globalisation and where information is power, implies an insular, backward thinking mentality. It implies an unwillingness to either get educated, or look beyond one's own horizons. This inability appears to be translating itself in the attitude displayed on the pitch, and the fact that the Paki players never learn from their mistakes. In their case, it is even more galling as most of the players are fairly well-to-do, as opposed to under-privileged who cannot afford an education.

I dont think so. In many other sports world famous players dont speak fluent english either. Take football for example. Many of the winners of olympic gold dont speak english either. The name of the game is perfomance not how well they speak english.
Saby: Any prediction on Umer Gull..... In the lunch hour today, PTV was showing Pak vs. NZ first test higlights from last year and this chap really looked good. Infact, he looked wonderful when compared to Asif, Khalil, and Rana.
About all that spoken English stuff. If we leave English out of the discussion and assume for a moment that good academics develop a good cricketing mind, and a good personality, in general. What do we have to say about the educational qualifications of most of our players.
My predictions
-We will win the ODI series with the Indians but lose or draw the tests (if we lose both say khuda hafiz to uncle Bob LOL)
-Danish Kaneria, Salman Butt and Shaoib Malik will become star performers
-Inzi's career will begin winding down towards his retirement
-After Umar Gul's return, him and Sami will fight it out as the 3rd seamer behind Shoaib and Shabbir
-Muhammad Hafeez will make a comeback as a off spinning all rounder to our ODI team
I don't think even the PCB know what their plans are for 2005. It is this lack of planning and visionary thinking that has been plaguing Pakistan Cricket for the past 10 years. I just wish PCB can pick a true and able captain first. Somebody who has at least 4 to 5 years of cricket left in him. Looking at the current lot, it's a very tough find. I don't like the way Inzi thinks cricket, specially bowling and fielding setup. Yoyo is too pesimistic and doesn't have the balls to make bold decisions. He waits for things to happen.
I like the attitude of Younis Khan but his not-so-permanent position in the team makes him ineligible.
Shoaib Akhtar?. Maybe as a captain he will stay in the field for a complete session? may be.
So, you see this is Pakistani dilemma. Once the board can fix the captain masla, rest will flow through smoothly. But we need a thinking captain.
Hopefully Pak will get a new and a more reliable captain .. yoyo maybe? .. anyone would do at this point. insha'Allah imran nazir will make a roaring comeback, my prayers are with him. :-p .. hopefully current players will stick around (with few exceptions .. farhat, sami .. ermm is it just me or we really are out of good bowlers?) anywayz insha'Allah we will see some progress in the team very soon, now stop jinxing the team.
