Is Pakistan on the verge on becoming next Afghanistan?

It depends how much we are going to play in the hands of US. If we start protecting our own interest then there is no question irrespective of what is going on inside the country.

These idiot mullahs, however, have no loyalty to state of Pakistan and don't care about the fate of people of Pakistan. They only want their holy war and are loyal to this imaginary Khilafat. They will be happy living under AQ arab leaders and have no hesitation in killing Pakistani soldiers and civilians. If they succeed, Pakistan will become another Iraq. US is not going to sit and watch mullahs declare holy war on the world. Their association with AQ and OBL will bring death and distruction to people of Pakistan.

nyah. majority of pakistan is not plagued by the tribal culture that afghanistan had, along with strange views about honour, revenge and what nots.
get rid of the militant mullahs and all will be back to the usual. yeah the usual includes ethnic and provincial rivalries and misgivings and all, but that is the case in that entire region anyways.
I sorta agree with Fraudia or others who think that Pakistan is unlikely to go Afghanistan way as the landlord/fuedals (war-lord-equivalent) are not that "strong" and anti-Pakistan, its just a militant circle who by the way is gaining support in name of religion.

Its very disturbing to turn on Pachaas Minute last night and find most of the show's audience agreeing with the 3 maulvi's call for Shariat.
We've already seen what Shariat can be like in Pakistan - look at the nonsense that went on under Zia's reign.

I can only say that if these people get their way, there is no way I'm going back to visit a country where even my modest American clothes would be called into question, and where I'd be beaten if found talking to my male cousins in public.

It is DISGUSTING and inexcusable to hope for someone's death - even if its your worst enemy. You should always pray that the person sees the right path and makes the right decisions.
