Re: Pakistan cell phone subscribers tops 70 million
Almost 45% of Pakistani's now have a mobile phone.
That figure was less than 0.2% in 1999.
man you are flip flop just like Maulana Diesel... read your own posts right in this very thread:
When Musharraf took over it was just a few tens of thousands who had cell phones.
As this link from Jan 2005 states there were only 0.2 million mobile phone subscribers in Pakistan 1999 when Musharraf took over.
and now:
That figure was less than 0.2% in 1999.
0.2% means 320,000 Pakistanis had mobile phones.
Re: Pakistan cell phone subscribers tops 70 million
and now: 0.2% means 32 million Pakistanis had mobile phones.
Brother: 0.2 percent had mobile phone in 1999 meant 260 thousands had mobile phone in 1999. Now the figure is that over 70 million or 70000 thousands have mobile phone in Pakistan. Or for every one person in 1999 that had mobile phone, today there are around 270 people that have mobile phone.
[In 1999, population of Pakistan was around 130 million and 0.2 percent of 130 million is 260 thousand. 0.2 percent of 160 million is 320 thousand, not 32 million. 32 million is 20 percent of 160 million].
Re: Pakistan cell phone subscribers tops 70 million
You are right ... its not 32 million, my bad.
Just curious, what is your source for 130 mill in 1999? I thought it was around 160 already in 1999.

I don't think situation is that bad :D
Re: Pakistan cell phone subscribers tops 70 million
You are right ... its not 32 million, my bad, rather 320,000. Pakistan's population is 160 million.
It is Ok brother I did realise that you made unintentional error that can happen with anyone, I just pointed out to clear that :).

:) ...
Well, that is what happens when one quote half and miss the other half. That shows how things get corrupted :) I wrote that for every 1 there are 270 and not just 270 :D

Re: Pakistan cell phone subscribers tops 70 million
Well, it seems that I might be wrong :). Actual population could have been 135 million in 1999, not 130 million that I mentioned. In 1998, according to Pakistani government, population of Pakistan was 132 million.:halo:
One can safely assume that population must have increased to 135 million by 1999, as increase in population of Pakistan was slightly over 2 percent during those days (today it is 1.8 percent).
