"Pakistan can beat any side". Do U AGREE ???

THESE ARE THE BOB WOOLMER’S VIEWS ON TEAM PAKISTAN.

Please read this article and than scroll down to some questions at the bottom of this page.

** "Pakistan’s cricket coach Bob Woolmer says his young team could be potential worldbeaters if they perform as well as they did during their tour of long-term rivals India.

Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq led an inexperienced Pakistan side, minus frontline pacers Shoaib Akhtar, Shabbir Ahmed and Umer Gul, to a 1-1 draw in the Tests and 4-2 win in the one-day series.

“Whatever I asked for was achieved on the tour of India. The real desire to achieve was there and if they play in the same manner they can beat any team in the world,” Englishman Woolmer, 57, told AFP.

Ahead of their first visit across the border in six years, former players and critics branded Pakistan the weakest team ever to tour India, but the underdogs showed remarkable team spirit to outclass the hosts.

“Despite the fact that we were underrated and dismissed as a team by some people, it proved a good tour and players made use of the lessons learnt on the Australian tour,” said Woolmer, referring to the 3-0 Test defeat in Australia earlier this year.

Woolmer, who played 19 Tests for England and also coached South Africa, took over in June last year following Pakistan’s home defeat in a historic series against India.

“I don’t take all the credit but some of the credit. It’s for others to judge my influence, but it is there,” said Woolmer, who was severely criticised in Pakistan for his innovative and ever-experimenting coaching." **

I have some questions for you guys:

1.Do you agree with Bob that Pakistan team has enough to beat Australia , may be 5 out of 10 times?
2.Do you think our team was good enough to beat India or Indian team was too weak that we beat them easily?
3.Do you think Pakistan will be still “Inconssistant” like always?
4.Do you think other team members will not behave like “Shoaib Akhatr” (Will not be proud and have an attitude problem ,spl guys like Sami and Rana) ?
5.Do you think our performance on flat wickets is good enough to judge our team.

huh!!

Thanks in advance for reading this long article and answering my questions in advance

1.Do you agree with Bob that Pakistan team has enough to beat Australia , may be 5 out of 10 times?

Yes we can just need to have confidence in ourselves and we will surely match Australia

2.Do you think our team was good enough to beat India or Indian team was too weak that we beat them easily?

I think you are not giving the credit where its due. Pakistan outplayed India and that remains the fact. You can't say that India lost coz they were weak well Pakistan won and they were rated as the weak team so its very simple. We won coz we played good.

3.Do you think Pakistan will be still "Inconssistant" like always?

This "inconssistancy" will remain apart of our team for atleast 1 more year. We need these young players to get experience under their belts and inshaAllah they will be awesome players. i have full faith in them

4.Do you think other team members will not behave like "Shoaib Akhatr" (Will not be proud and have an attitude problem ,spl guys like Sami and Rana) ?

He is just another player Sami and Rana will have to deal with it. Our qaum likes pace and they will rate Shaoib over sami or rana anyday.. performance is what counts really .. if we have attack where Shoaib,, Sami, Shabbir and rana are available we have better options to choose from. Just like if you have more equipment when u go on a war the better ur performance.. :)

5.Do you think our performance on flat wickets is good enough to judge our team.

Its a start i won't rate them as the next team to win the worldcup but certainly its something that will help them gain the confidence to do much much better in WI tour!

Re: "Pakistan can beat any side". Do U AGREE ???

Pakistan has potential to beat Australia in ODIs as we already did once in VB series and came quite close in previous encounters, but nowhere close in Test matches. There is long way to go to be any match for Australians in Test arena, may be when Shabbir, Gul (or Shoaib) join the team we will have a stronger bowling but top order still needs to improve.

Re: “Pakistan can beat any side”. Do U AGREE ???

I would stay away from such ‘claims’ and would try to keep a low profile on this untill we have enough consistency in team performance to beat who ever needs to be beaten

I suggest to focus on the next WC instead of ‘Australians’ who are nothing more than a ‘Super fit team’ who play cricket no different than the Pakis or Indians play.

Re: “Pakistan can beat any side”. Do U AGREE ???

^^ the last line shows ur expertise in this game :k: …lol

But I agree, we don’t need to jump on the gun on this flat track win. Nothing to snatch away from this wonderful victory and celebration. But when it comes to future talk we have to be realistic. We must not do the mistake that Indians did few years ago. When they finally got exteremly talented players in the team, with couple of series win, they made them super duper stars, that no this star-studded team fails terribly in One days, specially.

We won because of team spirit, dignity, determination and application of limited resources to MAX. There is a plenty of room for improvment, specially on top order batting, bowling and the most, fielding. If these young players continue with their hard work and check all the weak points, by 2006 ICCC trophy we inshallah be second to Austrailia.

To Do list:

Physical fitness (specially Akhtar, Inzimam, Sami, Shabbir, Rana and Salman)
Fielding (showed some improvement in ODI, specially the direct hit)
Bowling decipline (no-balls and wides)
Top order batting in Test matches. Middle order is doing good lately.

They need to make bouncy wickets as Rashid has in his academy now. So our batsmen do practice with the likes of Akhtar, Sami and Shabbir to be able to counter McGrath and Co and some Brits bowlers.

Re: "Pakistan can beat any side". Do U AGREE ???

Pakistan can beat most of the teams but, for Australia more work and experience is required...Indian pitches are dead. The real thing is Pakistan lost Test 3-0 against Australia and won only one game against them in the ODI series. Pakistan doesn't need batting or bowling pitch to win against Australia. Pakistan needs experiece and team effort 110% against them and still it is going to be close. Australia is ahead in all departments they can take away a game from you with the help of their 3rd or 4th down and score 310 remember....Pakistan can't.

But...I have faith in this team, they are hard workers and give their level best...more experience and cohesion and day is not far away when Pakistan will beat Australia.

Re: “Pakistan can beat any side”. Do U AGREE ???

Yes they can beat any team in the world if they maintain the right attitude in a certain game in a given time…that makes all excuses irrelavent…hmmmm

PS: :jhanda: Shahid Afridi & Pakistan Zindabad!:jhanda:

*"Pakistan can beat any side". Do U AGREE ??? *

addressing the Thread openers Title,

On a really good day of cricket what makes you think that Bangladesh, or UAE or Canada or even USA cannot do that.

Dont forget its Cricket we are talking here, and the last Ball has to be bowled until you can decide the result, (remember Miandad in Dubai or Inzi recently in Ahmedabad) wish I could forget..:( :(
