The results vary as it depends on ISP Routing towards the specific server also ...
Which ISP are you using btw ?
Re: Pakistan Broadband Speed Tests !
Doesn't matter the Karachi mirror can handle 500+ Simultanous Tests :D

Re: Pakistan Broadband Speed Tests !
OK I tested at different times & from different locations of the world, results are so random that I cannot say its fast server or fast line or time of day. I have no idea.
From Amsterdam to Lahore once I got 10 MB+ looks fishy. From Amsterdam to Amsterdam I got Error after 16421 kbps but again the server I am testing from is on OC192 with Trunk of 8 x 1 GB NICs.
So no idea whats happening behind these tests.
Re: Pakistan Broadband Speed Tests !
Exactly my point. The tests are totally fake. Somebody should bann the site. Its just using the ping responses to "create" the bandwidth report.
Re: Pakistan Broadband Speed Tests !
This should clarify some of the concerns raised. :)
Speedtest is a general use broadband connection analysis tool with many geographically dispersed testing servers. If you are experiencing slowness with your Internet connection, Speedtest.net can help you identify and prove it. Your result history is saved so you can compare against past tests to detect trends. Share links to your result images with your ISP and friends.
The site initially recommends a server for you based on what the application thinks is the shortest physical distance between you and one of the servers. However, because the **Internet does not actually operate in direct paths**, this recommendation may not be ideal. **To best utilize Speedtest**, find the server that provides the fastest and most consistent results and set it as your preferred server. This will turn it into your new recommended server. Test against this server frequently to make sure you are getting what you pay for from your ISP!

Since the Servers on the Map are sponsored by different networks, their internal policies maybe different. Also the connections stats would vary from location to location due to the network / routing policies adopted by you local ISP(s) & transit providers.
Read my earlier post that should give a bigger picture :)
For Broadband Pakistan - Lahore & Karachi servers are hosted within Pakistan with Ample bandwidth with the prime purpose to collect statistics for Pakistan Broadband Users at this point ... You should be using your nearest server in order to get close to accurate results.
The Speed Tests Technology doesn't use the ping responses to compute the results. It uploads & Downloads various sizes of files to determine the througput of your connection.
Ps. It is recommended to run Speed Tests with Internet Sharing i.e no other activity should be underway while you are performing the tests (browsing, downloading etc).
Pl. feel to free comment or raise any new concerns. :)
