The army vehicle was riddled with bullet holes

**A Pakistani army brigadier and his driver have died in a shooting incident in the capital, Islamabad, police say.**

They were travelling in an army vehicle when it was attacked by gunmen. It is not clear who carried out the attack.
It comes as the Pakistani army continues its drive against Taliban bases in South Waziristan, near the border with Afghanistan.
A wave of attacks on Pakistani cities has killed more than 180 people during the month of October alone.
The attack on Brigadier Moeenuddin and his driver Asghar took place in the G-11 sector of Islamabad. At least one soldier was injured.
According to reports, the vehicle was riddled with bullets, its tyres punched out and windscreen shattered. Army and police commandos have cordoned off the area.
Police say two men of about 20 years old carried out the attack.
Witnesses say the attackers escaped from the scene on a motorbike.
This is the second violent incident in Islamabad in the past three days.
On Tuesday, four people died and at least 18 were wounded in twin blasts at the International Islamic University.

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

i heard the firing:(....i dont know what is going on in here...everything seems so gray

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

most likely the work of the punjabi allies of the taliban...

drive by shooting and armed gun battles is the style of the punjabis while the taliban prefer child suicide bombers

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

I don't know who are behind it, but isn't it strange that whenever blackwater gets into any country, that country suffer from these kind of attacks...

Is TTP capable of these kind of attacks, they weren't few weeks ago? now what happened? Illegal and unauthorized weapons were found in one the western embassies, the pressure was on Zardari to Sack Rehman Malik & Haqani, Internal Ministry was planning to crack down for the weapons in the Islamabad and then..

1) GHQ Attack
2) 3 Attacks in lahore
3) University Attack in ISL

and today attack on the high level official, i know the area, it is high security zone, it is not like that one can walk in and start shooting!!!

A sad state of affairs

Now many in the military w’d be understandably quite wary of wearing their uniforms in public or moving around in an army vehicle except when in a tight security zone

I believe only COAS has a bullet-proof car

Read the following on another blog:

"Zardari and Rehman Malik are traitors who have allowed Blackwater and US marines inside Pakistan. Rehman Malik is denying that Americans are misusing Sihala Police Training Center by storing explosives and training terrorists. It is interesting that these terrorist attacks had subsided after March. It is only after the entry of Blackwater in Pakistan this summer that we are seeing a wave of terrorist attacks again. It is because bloody blackwater is hiring retired security people and providing arms and explosives to them at Sihala to carry out these attacks. It is time to ban Blackwater from Pakistan before it's too late. But this cant be done till pro-USA PPP has been kicked out."

For God Sake dude, get out of utopia world..... you can also wear chorriyan and sit tight next to Jammat Islami & Imran khan.

A brigadier is killed in the Islamabad* on the road, this is not a joke. Rest of the country schools/college/uni are closed for indefinite period of time,.. its not a joke going on.

I will say pass a law or emergency law by President or parliament whoever supports talibans/extremists any more, will be shoot on the spot. They want it lets give them, hell with the human dignity.

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

the notion that Blackwater is doing this is idiotic. The army would atleast protect its higher officers, and I dont believe that the army is weak enough for zardari et al to override its concerns.

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

sucha shame :(

You didn't get it. There are few on this forum since its inception, to misguide people by uttering misleading and false statements and self created stories without any proof.

Quit an absurd statement by a paranoid person.

Is there any shred of evidence at all that Blackwater is behind it, or these people are living in some fantasy world. What happened to Islamic principal of not propagating a report without confirmingit, rather, there isn't any report even.

I am amazed that Taliban have openly declared war on Pakistan, have done evrything to sabotage Pakistan's interest, like killing chinese engineers ,yet some are busy concocting hogwash.

But atleast i am happy that majority of people have smelled the coffee and know that TTP is behind all this.

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

this is not blackwater, this soldier was serving in congo and was due to go back there the next day so its unlikely blackwater would target him. this maybe a personal feud or a ttp ambush, possibly even internal army disagreement.

i think the agencies have not allowed blackwater to set up. blackwater reports have not had any credible videos to back them up but there has been police raid on weapon stores. so it looks like the plan was halted before it was even started

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

Strange...a brigidiar has been killed and that occured in islamabad.
it may be the work of TTP , if they can destroy caravans of US army then why not a jeep of army.

Re: Pakistan brigadier dies in attack

BTW my hearty condolences. He was leading a peace mission, something we need a lot more of. To lose his life on a home vacation is doubly sad.
