**Pakistan army kills 50 in raid on Al-Qaeda training camp **

WANA, Pakistan : Pakistani forces smashed a suspected Al-Qaeda training camp in a remote tribal area near the Afghan border, killing some 50 militant fighters, the military said.

“Around 50 people, 90 percent of them foreigners, were killed in the strike on the terrorist training camp,” military spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan told the private ARYOne television channel.

Most of the victims were Uzbeks and Chechens with some Arabs among them, Sultan said.

The camp was in the tribal district of South Waziristan, where hundreds of Al-Qaeda fighters have been taking refuge and running training camps since US-led forces ousted Afghanistan’s Taliban rulers in late 2001.

South Waziristan, the remotest and most conservative of Pakistan’s seven tribal districts, hugs Afghanistan’s insurgency-hit southeast province of Paktika, where Taliban and allied fighters have been killing aid workers, troops and officials for over a year.

Fighter planes dropped bombs on the camp in an operation that began around 6:30 am (0130 GMT) and lasted around two hours, residents and security officials said.

“It was precision bombing on militants’ training camp,” a military official who spoke on condition of anonymity told AFP.

Ground troops moved in after the camp was destroyed and were combing the area, he added.

A military statement said troops launched “a precise strike on a foreign terrorist training camp … and successfully knocked it out.”

The camp was in Dila Khula district, some 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the border and 25 kilometers northeast of Wana, South Waziristan’s main city.

Pakistani forces launched the raid following reports of training activity by “foreign elements” including Uzbeks, Chechens and some Arabs, the military said.

It is good to know that Pakistan has bombed terrorist training camps, but wasn’t it but a month ago when we heard:

**Reports on terror camps rejected **

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: **Pakistan on Friday rejected US media reports that Al Qaeda training camps had been revived along its border with Afghanistan.

“There are no terrorist training camps in any part of Pakistan,” foreign ministry spokesman Masood Khan told AFP. **  :hehe:

“Pakistan is opposed to terrorism in all its forms and has taken all the necessary steps to eliminate this threat.” US news channel CNN quoted sources as saying that overhead surveillance of the frontier between Afghanistan and Pakistan showed vehicles and people moving to known Al Qaeda training sites.

The spokesman dismissed the report saying that Pakistan would not allow use of its territory for subversive purpose. He said recent arrests of Al Qaeda operatives, including a Pakistani computer expert and a Tanzanian bombing suspect, vindicated Pakistan’s resolve to root out the menace.

“Recent interdictions underline and substantiate Pakistan’s resolve to move against terrorists from any part of the world who may be using Pakistan soil,” the spokesman said. -AFP

I hope Mr. Baldie Khan has some crow tikka for dinner tonight

There was NO BLOODY camp there, they killed 50 civillians not any terrorists! Pakistan it self is a Terrorist country for its actions against innocent people of my Waziristan.

What's so dramatic about it? In August 6th, ISI intelligence sources had been unable to find any such camps inside Pakistan. Hence the statement.

It's pretty obvious that new intelligence must have emerged indicating the presence of this facility, and that Pakistan then acted upon it. After all, if Pakistan new about the facility on August 6th, why wait a month to bombard it?

No need to be so dramatic.

:rotfl:

The trouble with liars is that sooner or later they get caught. It gets compunded for pathological liars.

A security official told Reuters in Peshawar that local tribesmen** had been asked to close down the camp in the past, but they had failed to do so.**

So the guys have been aware of the training camp for a while now while Taklu Khan blathered on.

Again, you're making assumptions about what exactly "the past" was. The tribesmen could have been told last week to take action, for all we know.

Your foreign minister admitted last year that there were terrorist training camps in Pakistan and that "some have been closed."

This is becoming a pattern.

  1. Americans say jihadi leader Fazlur Rehman Khalil is training Taliban.

  2. Pakistan FO angrily denies it

  3. Days later Khalil is arrested

Act 2

  1. Americans say there are open training camps and give proof

  2. Pakistan FO angrily denies it

  3. Days later they admit it and take action

Act 3

  1. Americans say there are many Al Qaeda people in Pakistan (in early 2002)

  2. Pakistan denies it

  3. Many Al Qaeda people are routinely arrested in Pakistan later

Act 4

  1. Americans say that Kashmir jihadi groups and Al Qaeda have close ties

  2. Musharraf angrily "refutes" it

  3. One Al Qaeda leader after another is arrested after hidden by these jihadi groups. Pakistan admits that jihadi groups are working with Al Qaeda

Act 5

  1. In 2002 and 2003, American media reports tie Pakistan to nuclear links with Iran and North Korea

  2. Pakistan FO expresses outrage. Musharraf gives 400% assurances.

  3. 2004, we know...

Time and again it has been proven that Pakistan FO's "denials" are just BS. American sources have been proven to be accurate when it comes to Pakistan.

may allah humiliate all those who fight for the kuffars against muslims.
may allah curse all those who kill the people who are engaged in fighting for islam
may allah curse and destroy all the nationalists who put country over religion.

after this day, i actually will be glad every time i hear the news about death of pakistani soldiers/policemen.

I'll be glad everytime a terrorist leaves the planet. Taliban and co blowing themselves up in markets only killing Afghan brothers.

The stupidity required to bomb your own people for the Americans is staggering.
The army are a bunch of complete idiots and will be responsible when this whole situation blows up and tears the country into pieces.
I've been hearing that army raids on villages and army fighting with villagers has spread to Punjab, but is'nt yet being reported in the media........

Look people this is a battle between terrorists taking over Pakistan and a country as we see it. Now if terrorists can freely set up traning camps, brainwash and recruit children, launch and plan attacks from Pakistan where going to become like Taliban Afghanistan. These mental arabs get a lot of support and sympothy from the tribal areas but that doesnt meen we shouldnt go after those who are a danger to the natinal security of Pakistan. We have a problem of mullahs who's only job is to recruit kids in madrasas and brainwash them into thinking they must kill shia, americans or whoever talibs are fighting. I think we already acted to late but a decision has to be taken to bring down these organisations hitting them financially (stoping drug smuggling) and miltarily. It's going to be painful soldiers and innocent civilans will be killed but it's better to act now than see the enemy get bigger. My only hope is the army use more of the carrot approach than just the stick and minimise civilain deaths we know how revengful tribal ppl are.
