Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
No we shouldn't. But I think mass protests are a bit of an overreaction no?
Again, I ask you, what specifically are you protesting?
We are protesting against FREEDOM OF SPEECH. which got support from so called LIBERALS.

Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
Well I'm afraid that protesting against that isn't going to do much good. Also keep in mind that being against freedom of speech means that Zardari can lock you up for protesting against his corruption by labeling you a threat to the country. This is exactly what Bush did, and his erosion of Americans' rights is one of the biggest issues of the last decade. Interestingly enough, that's exactly what Hitler did as well. Sadly though, most people are uninterested in such matters until they are under the boot of a dictator.

Don't you think that attacking personality of a religious leader is different than speaking for ones rights?
How these hate mongers got right and support to attack ones religious sentiments?
Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
I agree with government action.
Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
It all falls under freedom of speech unfortunately. Most people around the world agree that the movie is despicable, as do I.
They don't have the support. The US government even asked YT to remove the clips, but they didn't in America, but did around the world. Freedom of speech and censorship is a tricky subject, and mixing religion with it makes it even worse. On the one hand, I think YT should remove the clip, but doing so means censorship, which I am against.
Protesting also makes us look like zealots. Slims posted a thread about a French artist planning to put out some cartoons of the Prophet. What's going to happen then? Are we going to get worked up again?
Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
So the new episodes of our fav dramas will not be uploaded to youtube this week? :(
Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
Lmao I’m afraid not. The real victims of the censorship ![]()

I know right? Someone should tell them that a quick Google search would bring them offensive material from across the globe, in several languages if they're fluent.

Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
I agree and appreciate this kind of reaction. at least it's better than the kind of protests going on all over Pakistan.
Re: Pakistan bans YouTube
Was it always this way? I don't recall the seventies and eighties being periods of such hypersensitivity? What has changed?

seventies and eighties was the era when one super power was exploiting Muslims against other super power. That super power then could not afford to leave unattended barking dogs free to attack Muslim sentiments on the name of so called freed of expression.
