You can go on with the list of actions - 20/30 years ago. Anyways, no one said they are invincible. Btw, they conquered Iraq, and then beat the insurgency.
Again, the priority of the Americans is to stop the Taliban attacking them, not to stop certain ‘Taliban’ attacking the double game playing Pakistan ISI.
