Pakistan Army

How does a British born Pakistani go about joining Pak Army?

Are there any special qualifications that are needed?

Do A-levels in science based subjects help and I’ve been a member of the British Army Cadet Force since I was 12 does that help?

rolleyes @ Al-Qaeda

Damm!! I've got a Pakistan Origin Card, does that not help?

saif… u can join pak army… u just have to go to pak and take the ISSB test. You education should be minimum yr 12. which is equivalent to A levels, so its cool…
and I think u,ll have to surrender ur British nationality.

good luck :k:

that cadet force thing might just personally help u settle down better than others in ur group… but in order to get in… u have to pass the ISSB test… (Inter Services Selection Board (i think) ).

^ Yup it does allow dual Nationality, I have heard of some Pakistani's serving in the Civil Service who hold dual Nationality, the trick is don't say you are a dual National loudly once youa re in ;)

Why the heck would someone with a British citizenship want to join Pak army? How can you be loyal to UK and be in Pak army? Even with dual citizenship?

^ loyal to UK? in what senses? Pakistan isnt at war with UK..
and besides.. we are pakistani Tommy boy.. our first and foremost loyalty stands with Pakistan..

not that any of us would do anything to harm the country we live in.. but on the same hand all of us want to do something special for out native lands too.

my hats off to you Saif bhai jaani! I myself wish for my first born to join the Pak Armed Forces

You better be sure you want to go into the army !! It looks very glamorous from the outside but I know many people in the inside who wanna get out!! It can be hard work as a Junior Officer (once you complete the training that is also very hard). You have to kiss arse in a big way (in any govt job!!) and you do not get the respect these days from civillians either as there is a big rift between the two. The pay is not that good (as there are no "special bonuses" like other govt jobs;) ) . It is worthwhile if you make it to Brigadier plus eventually but to do that you have to do well and kiss butt in a big way too !! Speak to people in the army (realists, not idealists) before you amke your mind up !!

You need to have a passion for military and love for your country above all to join the military. If you want to join Army cos it looks cool to be wearing that uniform and glamorous, then u r better off playing video games and watching hollywood movies. If you consider Army as a job, and want to make money, then I suggest you pick another field. Army is not a job, its a responsibility. You need to be able to face the fact that some day you will be asked to take a bullet from the enemy all for your country and not run away. A quitte is as worse as the enemy itself.

good thread saif, i'm impressed by your passion.
i'll let you in on some details regarding joining any of the three armed forces of pakistan. if you are a british citizen and are presently in th UK and have passed your A levels with at least 3 subjects, you can either go and visit the Pakistan embassy or consulate and ask them for the latest procedures to apply from outside pakistan. otheriwse you can come to pakistan and apply from here. the selection for officers is done twice a year. even if you apply from Uk you will have to come down here for the first medical examination and the tests ets that are held at ISSB(inter services selection board). theinitial tests include academic, IQ and other aptitude tests along with a physical and medical examination and physical fitness tests. those who qualify are called for an interview and those selected at the interview are sent to the ISSB for 4 days where psychiatrists, and other analysts who are officers of the armed forces conduct various tests including physical fitness tests and interviews. on return from the ISSB candidated receive a response within 3-4 days informin thgem about the boards decision. the lucky ones selected are sent to a military hospital for the final medical examination which is very thorough. the list of all those reaching the last stage after being qualified by the military hospital is sent to the head quarters and the list is finalized there and the lucky ones are informed when the are to reprt at their academy.
now the rquirements for joining a particular force are slightly different so one must be aware of his standing beofre deciding which one to chose. the army accepts alevels in any (reasonable) subjetcs for the regular long course at the PMA (pakistan military academy) and science subjetcs for the engineering corps. The air force requires science subjetcs in Alevels including maths physics for fighter pilots and for engineers chemistry too. fopr navy also science subjetcts with physics chemistry maths. under pakistan govt regulation those who have done their alevels must have passes in the subjetcs of urdu and pakistan studies at o levels to be accepted in any pakistani university or higher education instiotute. so that is necessary for the military academies too.

the physical and medical fitness standards to be met are very high for all 3 forces but highest for fighter pilots- the requirement is 20/20 vision and excellent medical and physical fitness. physically knok knees, flat feet etc are considered negative poitns.

the PMA is in kakul near abbotabad, the PN academy near karachi and the PAF academy in risalpur NWFP.

our institutions are among the world's greatest and the officers and men are very professional and competent. in PMA from every course, the best cadet at the end of the first term is sent to the RMA sandhurst to pass out and complete the training from there. during th epast few years few pakistani cadets won the swrod of honour and chief of staffs canes at the RMA snadhrust! which is a great honour. a navy cadet won the sword in tha RNA few yrs ago too.

i appreciate your passion and guts cause it's not a childs game to even think of what you are. i hope you succeed in your gfood intentions and achieve your goals.
5Abi is right, one needs a lot of dedication to join the army. all those who wear the uniform are worth a salute!
i rememer reading in a magazine after the Kargil war in 1999 abvout a young captain of the pakistan army who had joined the army after coming back to pakistan from england. he was martyred durign the war. and achieved the glory he had sought.
and yeah, one has to surrender foreign nationality to join the armned forces, or any other govt organization.
i hope the info would help. if you need anymore help or assistance I can guide you all the way. even if you need my help in nay way when u come to pakistan i'd be more than happy to help you out. bestof luck.

Saif-ul-Islam - best of luck to you :k:

mate.... good on ya.. rather than askin us.. who have not much info... y dont u go to pak and ask the army....

and yeah i was also gona go back to join the army.. then i thought there are other ways of helpin the country.. by usin the knowledge here.. and take it back... any way in the army. somone else can take my position in army.. but helpin with knowledge.. only few can do that..

so take ur options.. its good u wana join the army... but id say.. get educated in UK and take that knowledge back to Pak.. inshallah thats my intentions...

BUT REALLY GOOD CHOICE!!!!!!

Allah hafiz

Hello!

I see that you have done Alevels so I thought Id give you some advice. I would adivse you join the army though the Electrical & Mechanical Engineering college, National University of Sciences and Technology Pakistan, as a gentleman cadet, instead of going to the PMA. Why, because EME NUST is the best tech school of Pakistan and you will have an excellent faculty (both army and civilians) and will study with Paying cadets and civilian, so you will get best of both worlds. I studied in NUST as a civilian cadet, and the entrance test was hard to pass, but for GCs there is also a fitness test apart from academic test. You will have these options to choose from 'Computer Eng, Mechanical Eng (most popular in army cadets), mechatronics eng, electrical eng. There are other disciplines, in other colleges of NUST too, for instance civil engineering at CAE risalpur, or Telecom Eng at Signals. If you do good in your undergrad, they will also send you abroad to foriegn univs for your grad school under army expenses, such as Michigan State, GA tech, Univ of Melbourne etc...

Trust me,this way not only will you be in the army, you will be the cream of the nation's best engineers!

Good Luck!

Best of Luck!

Hi, Sorry for the late reply.. Like spock suggested it would be better if you joined EME or aviation as these are considerd the cream of the army. In any case you were a cadet in the ACF "That should really help you here because the drill and principal is the same.. Having been a Officer Cadet in the British Army myself i know this for-sure"!

Just remember that this job, has no glamour and its all hard work and more or less little or no play.... So it will be tough for the first 6 months, so i have been told. After your either made or broken....

BEST OF LUCK!!!

yeah right! how do you think double agents are created?

It may be a tough thing to hear, but Mr.Saif, born and brought up in the UK will never be fully trusted in the pakistan army
