Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

Re: Pakistan Army launches Massive Swat Operation - 33 militants killed

That's (sadly) true. When state uses power, it may take care of the problem, but there is always an issue of long term bitterness and worse! Separatists feelings. Here are some examples.

  1. 1864 A.D. -- Abraham Lincoln defeated the anti-nationalist southern rebels. Still the rebel flag flies high in many parts of the American south. And yes 150 years have not been enough to reduce the animosity.

  2. David Koresh in Waco Texas - Branch Davidians and their leader was burned down by the American government. The result was Oklahoma bombing. And yes there are people in the USA who still harbor ill feelings about the Government action.

  3. Islamic history is filled with such episodes of killings and counter killings. Muawia family lost Hazrat Usman rah while Abi Talib's family member Hazrat Hassan stood guard outside Usman's home.

Hazrat Ali became Khalifa, and Amir Moawia family went to war. The result was 10,000 sahab's death.

Same Moawia family took revenge later by killing Hazrat Hussain. And guess what a brand new branch "Shia" sect started.

So yes, there would be consequences of Army action in Swat. However the result of doing nothing will be even more horrible for the stability and security of Pakistan.

Thus we are deciding about which is the lesser of the two bad outcomes: Let Taliban expand, or kill Taliban and risk civilian deaths and resulting hate against Pakistan.

I see you are supporting not to kill Taliban. And you may be proven right in the long term.

Unfortunately state machinary doesn't share your view, so they will go after the Talibanic menace.

Peace and love to all
