Pakistan angered by Kenyan arrests

why not pakistan waite until investigation ends?

Re: Pakistan angered by Kenyan arrests

We will not let the name of our country to be slandered. The Kenyans should allow access to our High Commision to ascertain whether they are Pakistanis or not.

it is really not very smart to claim national slander, whether proven or unproven. If you cry foul now because 'not yet proven' and then if / when they prove it, you have drawn the country into it.

Getting angry is * haraam * . Be rationale!

By the way, did the Pakistani ambassador met the alleged 6 Pakistanis in Kenya? At least to verify that they are authentic Pakistanis.

pakistanis claming they were trying to catch sharks off the coast of kenya

This should end the deabte and annoy the Muslim Burning Hindus at the same time

Kenya finds no Pakistan link with bomb blasts.

NAIROBI, Dec 8: The Kenyan authorities have found no link between six Pakistani fisherman detained in Kenya and the terrorist attack in Mombasa.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Nairobi Hameed A. Kidwai in an interview with BBC, CNN and wire services, termed the news reports misleading and baseless as investigation agencies had found no link between the detained fishermen and the terrorist attack.

The Kenyan Minister for Internal Security, Julius Ole Sunkuli, in his telephonic conversations with the High Commissioner, confirmed that the involvement of six Pakistanis with the bombing incident had not been established.

After concerted efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistan Mission concerned a meeting a meeting materialised with the detainees.

Mr Hameed said that the detainees were fishermen who were on way to Mombasa Port for repair of their damaged vessel when the Kenyan Marine police arrested them on Nov 22 for lack of proper documents.

Incidentally, the owner of the boat, reportedly a Somali National, who has not been detained, was already in Mombasa seeking permission for landing permits for the fishermen and the vessel. The Kenyan authorities arrested the Pakistani fishermen following the attack on the Israeli-owned hotel in Mombasa and firing of rockets on the Israeli airliner.-APP

**Kenya to Deport Suspects Held After Hotel Bombing **

Fri December 13, 2002 08:07 AM ET
MOMBASA, Kenya (Reuters) - Kenyan police said on Friday they had found no evidence linking six Pakistani and three Somali suspects to an attack on Israeli tourists but instead charged them with being in the country illegally.
The suspects were arrested after 16 people, including the three attackers, were killed in a suicide bombing at an Israeli-owned hotel near Mombasa on November 28.

A failed missile attack on an Israeli airliner taking off from Mombasa airport was carried out at about the same time.

“We have decided to prefer charges of them being in Kenya illegally since we do not have evidence linking them with the attacks,” senior police officer William Langat told reporters.

Pakistan last week demanded access to the six suspects to determine their nationality but Kenyan authorities refused the request.

The suspects, looking tired and dressed in dirty clothing, denied the charges of being in the country illegally but were fined $625 each.

Chief magistrate Anna Okwengu ordered the nine to be deported to their respective countries after they paid the fine, or serve one year in jail term if they did not. Then they would be deported.

Langat said the police were holding three Somali suspects contrary to earlier police reports that four Somalis were detained with the Pakistanis. Three Kenyans are also being held.

Police have said a young Kenyan, identified as Saleh Ali Saleh Nabhan, bought the vehicle used in the suicide car bomb attack and have circulated his pictures as a wanted man.

They have also published images of the faces of three other men suspected of involvement in the twin attacks based on descriptions provided by witnesses.
