I was recently listening to a pakistani radio station. A student called in the station mentioning that one of prestigious professors of science was recently killed in a motor vehicle accident in Pakistan. I also recently happened to be reading a research paper that mentioned that a Pakistani Researcher in USA was killed in MVA just before publication of the paper. Now, I can understand a Pakistani Researcher dying in USA…those things happen. However, what bugs me the most is Pakistani country-renouned people in various fields (especially science and technology) dying within Pakistan. We have a shortage of such gems. A few researchers can die in super power countries, and not much damage is done to the field in general. However, even a single death is crucial to countries such as Pakistan. So, what bothers me the most is Pakistan’s inability to protect its gems. Can anything be done about that?

Dopey, can u run from your death ? Everyone has to die one day. The greatest "Aalim" is God himself, he creates more gems. Dont worry about who died, it was his time, he travelled there for his death.

And now that I think about it...my very own first cousin who topped in the region in 12th grade, suffered a traumatic brain injury in a MVA and was unable to pursue education afterwards. It may have been a coincidence, or may not have been. Most important thing is awareness that such things are happening. We are vigorously looking for a cure for AIDS because it's killing so many people; you are certainly not saying "oh well, it was time for them to die." Any illness that plagues a society has to be evaluated and corrected. And deaths of intellectual individuals are happening in Pakistan.
