My Father will be going to Pakistan soon to visit my Grandparents. Inshallah. We have an old USA Android phone that we had been using when we go to Pakistan. We have Mobilink sim card in it already from our previous trip. So everything is good on that part and we keep on buying pre-paid phone cards there to talk.
Now I was wondering how do data packages work in Pakistan? I double checked the Mobilink’s website and it will be able to get 3G on it via Mobilink. I was thinking of recommending getting 5GB plan for 500 Rupees. Now how do we get dataplan on it? Do we buy separate Mobilink Dataplan phone card? Would the dataplan reduce pre-paid phone card’s minutes or is it totally separate like here in the USA? Whats the catch of having such awesome dataplans compared t o USA?
If that is the case, wouldn’t it be cheaper to just use the dataplan to call through Whatsapp or Skype instead of calling from Pakistan? Also how is quality of whatsapp via data plans on 3G in Pakistan to calling USA?
