Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

^ I never thought I'd say this, but for once I agree with you Raindance... its pretty sickening and distasteful to mix politics with sports… this is exactly why we didn’t have Pak-India matches for so long, and now people are trying to entwine BD into the equation... and just for the record, every single one of my experiences with a Bengali has been a pleasant one – and I think everyone has a right to hold their political views.

For once, please let the bygones be bygones – let’s just respect cricket as sports and not start revering it for the wrong reasons!

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

Yeah they are pissed bro, and its 2 bad. They are our bros and I feel bad that any of that happened. May allah punish those responsible. But besides that who cares man, let em choke on it. I feal no guilt for what somebody else did.

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

Raindance, read Phoenixdesi's original post again... he is not suggesting any significant "rivalry" right now, but in coming years when BD does become a better unit i.e. like SL improved and became a competing unit, would BD vs Pak matches bring similar excitement as Pak vs Ind has been doing?

Umar Talib, no matter what you do, everyone's views about other country are tainted by the politics between two countries and the extremity of situation in 1971 does not leave a good taste esp in a victim nation. We may ignore it but majority of BD can't ignore it, its not just "political" situation, its about national honor I believe. Anyway, I'll stop here and not go into past to discuss it, but bottom line is that whatever happened in 1971 is still fresh in BD cuz not all of that generation has left this world, it'd take a couple of generations to heal the wound.

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

By the time a rivalry develops, most of us here would be dead and buried :rotfl:. Really.

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

Ok i admit that.. but that is because India dont win match so regularly. They tend to show the aggression later in the match when they are winning.. but under Ganguly ( though i hate him for whatever he is) has shown lot of agression on field and from the beginning of a game. But if we are over aggressive be ready to be labelled as arrogent. See what we do to Aussies. They are even aggressive outside the field.. playing psychological games.:).
May be its a lame excuse but.. Indians and BD or Srlankans cricket players generally look (appearence, body built) less threatening than other teams. They may have hidden complex regarding that and may be when they tend to win then they burst out with emotions.

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

No this thread did not have any specific political motive whatsoever.

Based on an assumption that one day BD would be a formidable opponent, I wanted to know the level of rivalry between Pakistan and BD. One should note that I did not disrespect BD by any means. As a matter of fact I gave them a lot of respect by treating them as our future rivals. Now, why did the political history came into this discussion? Well, I provided the answer in first two lines of my original post but for stupid people like Radiance I will restate it. I stated in the beginning of my post that Pakistanis, BDs and Indians are emotional nations who tend to develop their rivalries based on their past history. Who could deny it? I mean come on…. We all know this. Both Indians and Pakistani governments have used cricket as a political weapon on numerous occasions…. how could you deny it? We all know this…..I had a genuine concern and I decided to present it in front of guppies. I don’t see anything wrong with it. But for some people, who have a record of opening 90 percent of their threads in café, it was too hard to understand.

Umar, it is very easy to say that cricket is just a sport and let us treat it the same way. I agree with you hundred percent but unfortunately, the ground realties are totally different. The point I am trying to make here that no matter what we say, but the fact of the matter is that cricket does play an extremely important role in the lives of ordinary Indians, Paksitanis and now BDs. I guess it has a lot to do with our national history. What do we have to be proud about? I am not pessimistic, I am just being realistic. With no democratic institutions in place, no real strategic/social/scientific advancement made in last 50 years (of course with exception of few personal geniuses) and with a very little recognition at international level, cricket does provide this lost region a medium to express. Aussies and England would go to Olympics every 4 years and will end up winning 20 medals or so. So cricket is not that important for them…..But for us…we all know the answer…..So Lets be real.

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

at least you are being very honest and genuine…

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

Rivalaries only occur between teams that are at par....unfortunately Pakistan with all its cronism is not exactly at par with Bangladesh at the moment......

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

Phoenixdesi ,No need to start name calling now,OK! , Otherwise you won’t find me this polite for ever. Ball is in your court and I’m sure you don’t want this monkey on your back.

and Cap10 sahab ,

‘Until’ & ‘When’ Bangladesh brethrens are competitive nation as far as ‘Cricket’ goes and they have enough experienced archives of heroes to be counted as a nation of reasonable talents, only then you may talk about Pak cricket & BD cricket in the same breath.

Its not me but it is evident from the replies ^^ and post including yours , that this thread has a 100 % and definite, clear as water motive of “Politics via cricket”

OK! Bangladesh is a nation made out of our ‘past mistakes’ you may call them, It is a real nation now. On the same note Pakistan is mature nation (laugh all you can) and has fought ICC side by side with BD to gain its ‘test status’

Your statements (even a reply to a political point) are adding more fuel to the distinguished fire and its equaly smokey,

Ps ; Nest time you want to reply to me, then you better have some thing sensible to say and don’t reply randomly.. Please ! :expressionless:

Well said CheGuvera :k:

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

most of the BD'S that I have met are very good. They prefer pakistan over India...but i guess it depends on from person to person...I mean most of the indians that i meet are very nice tooo...but then I look at this discussion board...and no comments... :D

Re: Pakistan and Banglades Rivalry in Near Future

R u serious… Are you talking swimming or cricket.
BD winning one game against the Aussies hardly makes them a world class team
