Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Pakistan alcohol tragedy kills 22
Patients suffering toxic liquor poisoning in Karachi hospital
More than 40 people are ill after drinking the liquor
At least 22 people have died after drinking illegally brewed alcohol in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, police said.

The dead included some policemen, including one who ran a facility to brew the toxic liquor, they said.

More than 20 people are ill after drinking the liquor and have been admitted to hospital.

Police said drinkers buy illegal liquor because legal wine shops are closed during the holy month of Ramadan.

Police said one of the surviving pedlars said he had sold more than 100 bottles of toxic liquor on Wednesday night.

He told a local newspaper that he had been running the business along with a police constable.

Locally brewed alcohol has been traditionally available in two forms - kuppi and tharra- in Pakistan.

Police say customers often mix the two for a greater “kick”, often leading to a more potentially lethal drink.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Morons. Those alive should all be brought up on charges.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

khas kam jahan paak, now only if this liquor can be served to NS, BB, AH, Fazal etc.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

It happens mostly during Ramadan. Some ten years back scores of people died in Hyderabad in a similiar incident.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

if only they knew methanol cause blindness and death compared to ethanol.
make shift laboratries produce some liquid without knowing the composition of it. end up making it poison! in dire need they make mistake of mixing methelated spirit - largely available to make quick bucks and hence these results.

other reason in ramadhan most of the liqour stores in the city are closed and these people gone to alternate sources! paid the price.

the producers should be charged with mass murder cases. and surviving consumers shoudl be charged for consuming it!

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Did you see names of involved/victims? Such operations have full protection from police, who do you think will catch/prosecute them?

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

I don't know how this is a topic of Politics and Economics? Unless some one blame this incidence directly to Mush as he him self is famous Sharabi Kababi. The only difference is type and quality of imported liquor he is drinking without any such effects.

I think it is a time to remove restrictions on alcohal to avoid such an ugly incident.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

O bhai, who gets charged & sentenced in Pakistan. After few months same people will be producing similar liqour causing more deaths. Similar incidents occur quite often.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Most probably owned by some police official supported by MQM the Butchers.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Haha, so MQM is now also making poisonous alcohol. What other lies will you tell?

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Bhaijan jab MQM ka naam aata hay is 'gup shup' forum main, aap itnay personal kyon ho jaatay hain? City is governed by MQM, tell me what it has done to avoid such incident in future?

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

^ Farid bhai, I think you are right. Legalising alcohol will eradicate this problem. :D

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

This Alcohol Attack is an abomination. Whoever is in charge of the mininstry of dumb stuffs.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Is it my fault that you and others keep bringing up MQM in every turn?

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

I'd agree. It won't eradicate the problem of drinking, but lower the number of deaths and injury.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Astaghferullah, alcohol in Ramadan.

They'll be surkh-rooh in the Darbaar of Allaah wont they.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

legalize alcohol in pakistan!

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

^
Given the current situation in our country I don't think it's a good idea.

It will give those who use religion as a means of furthering their political agendas another stick to beat the gov with.

Besides alcohol is bad for indivudals and socities, our country shouldn't make it acceptable.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

Alcohol is not bad some users are. You cannot blame cars for some bad drivers.

I am all for lifting the ban on booze.

Re: Pakistan Alcohol Attack

^Bhai Jaan!

We already have enough deaths on the roads, what you want to do ? make half the teenagers drunk.

Booz is all bad, there nothing good in it.
