Acid throwing happens in areas where dating is frowned upon, so stopping youngsters from dating or lecturing them about Islam wont help much. Why? Because the barbarian in these men is very deep rooted, and it is traced back to their upbringing as a child, and it is allowed to happen due to lack of law reinforcement. Furthermore, I don't even know whether there are any laws on the books for acid throwing specificially, and if there are not, morons like Zardari and his goons are failing to design and implement these much needed laws.
The way to fix this is:
Promote better child-rearing methods in families, enhance family cohesiveness and support - helps raise fewer criminals
Address Socioeconomic frustrations among the people - behavior like this, often, is the result of not so much "lack of education", but these guys are VERY FRUSTRATED. They have poor economic opportunity, they watch as their families starve and so they feel inadequate as men, and then to top it off some girl doesn't give them a lift, and the boy dumps his frustation on vulnerable girls in the neighborhood.
Implement strong laws for these behaviors - and I dare say, the death penalty or something close to it, is adequate for these nightmares. IF anyone does have the desire to hurt a woman, they'll at least think twice because of this strong law.
So being intimate with your wife is also considering DATING? Glad I was "taking" notes...

You think Islamic values will only prevent ‘girlfriends’ abuse? :)- Redundant question but what I mean is any abuse rate will be lowered.
Abuse happens everywhere unforunately.
