Pakistan A Team

The 24 are:
Naveed Latif,
Kamran Sajid,
Salman Butt,
Yasir Hamid,
Faisal Iqbal,
Najaf Shah,
Junaid Zia,
Umar Gul,
Irfanuddin,
Munir Ansari,
Taufiq Umar,
Imran Farhat,
Saleem Elahi,
Babar Naeem,
Bazid Khan,
Kamran Akmal,
Yasir Arafat,
Muhammad Zahid,
Muhammad Akram,
Abdul Rauf,
Danish Kaneria,
Asim Akmal,
Amin-ur-Rehman and
Naveed-ul-Hassan Rana.

This is the current Pakistan A team announced to play Srilanka A in Pakistan.

As I look at the names I see some of the familiar faces who have played international cricket for Pakistan and some which I have heard alot about.

I was surprised to see Hasan Raza not being included in the squad as he has performed at top level in Pakistan A matches.

He also holds the record of youngest international debutant at the age of 14 (Take that Prathieve Patel):nahnah:

I’m also excited to see Muhammad Zahid comeback and lets see if he gets the chance to play international cricket again. Probably after WC 2003, maybe a good replacement for Wasim Akram.

Faisal Iqbal is also included in the squad, very talented batsman but hasn’t been expose to international cricket much, solid mid order batsman.

Junaid Zia is also one of the fast Pakistani quickies, I heard he was bowling in mid 90s mph in the nets.

Nice to see old international rejects getting another chance to play cricket, with the likes of Imran Farhat, Saleem Elahi, and Taufiq Umar.

Bazid Khan, son of Majid Khan, nephew of Imran Khan, is very talented. But poor lad has still hasn’t been able to play international cricket. A solid mid order batsman, I think we can use him by now.

Most of us counted out Muhammad Akram but he is also playing, it will be very tough for him to make a comeback in the national squad with likes of Sami, and Zahid sitting in the sidelines, plus he has aged.

The biggest surprise is Danesh Kaneria, I thought he had already cemented his place in test squad.

So which players do you guys think will be part of the Pakistani future team.

YEAH I am looking forward to Mohammad Zahid....hope he perform well to be selected for upcoming SA tour and WC.

Tell you what there's more firepower in that line-up (bowling) then India's alltime pace attack. hahaha

Seriously its nice to see Zahid and Akram back in it,would have loved to see them bowling with the new ball together in a full fledged international-alas injury and pratness on the part of our selectors stopped that from happening.

Faisal Iqbal is crap. Seen him play ODI's and I think 1 test too-and he just cant handle short pitched bowling, they should give a chance to someone less *****. :D

Danish is crap-his test record is based on one 13 wkt haul V Bangladesh-who incidently licked India for 400+ in there very first test match innings. (So they lost, its a learning curve-India must have lost 10 straight plenty of times). Should drop him.

Also yasir Arafat-seen him play too. Medim pace, crap, drop him. These guys have no umph-the 3 I've singled out for lyrics.

Rest seem ok, I heard there's a pace bowler called "John" or something-Christian dude, word is he's fast. Any info?

Also Mohammed Rauf-heard some rave reviews of a guy with this name. Info plz?

I kind of disagree with you about Kaneria yaar!
He's a very talented bowler but with such great bowling lineup like Pakistan he doesn't get enough chances.
He played extremely well against England when they toured Pakistan couple years ago.
Played well against NZ recently and also played some good innings in NZ.
I think he is very talented spinner.
He should only be kept for test matches though.

Dont tell that to Hayden :hehe: 5-0-45-0

Re: Pakistan A Team

Why dont you ask your Uncle Majid Khan as why he produced his Wrist XRAY  Also Mr. Fake Birth Certificate Raza also holds another record with Tullaybaaz no. 1 and Atiq uz zaman - Let me know If you would like to Know :hehe:

I've heard the Naved Latif is quite special. I haven't seen him play but have heard he is one of Pakistan's brighter prospects.
It is good to see the two Mohammed's bowling again.
Taufiq Umar looked good for me as openeing for Pakistan and i think he will show his class during the A Tour.
By the way what has happened to Mohammed Wasim. He seemed quite talented but i haven't seen him on the international scene for a while now.

Re: Re: Pakistan A Team

someone is a little jealus in here?? :hehe:

Re: Re: Re: Pakistan A Team

Yeah - Majid Khan was jealous of Hasan Raza. :hehe: BTW did u find the unique record of Hasan Raza, Afridi and Atiq ?

Mohad Zahid again got injured...What kind of bad luck this guy has...

he was a sensation when he came into cricket world..but right from the start --he is going through never ending nightmare of injuries and bad luck!!
he lost chance in last year Sharjah cup becoz of his father death... then he got unfit--now i was hoping to see him back in action--and again he tripped...I am really disappointed!!
Mohd Akram is also not in the team ..i wonder if he opted to stay in England ..or was axed

Even if he would be fit do you think our brilliant selection committee will ever select him till WC 2003.
They have one thing set in their minds.
We have the best 4 fast bowlers who are impossible to be dropped.
The guy is aging very quickly, and his pace will go down.
Very unfortunate guy.
