**Tour match, Lahore: Pakistan A v England **
Match starts 0500 GMT Sunday
England had a scare when four players were taken ill a week before the first Test against Pakistan in Multan.
The tourists were expected to field their Test XI in Sunday’s final warm-up game against Pakistan A in Lahore.
But Matthew Hoggard, Alex Loudon, Kevin Pietersen and Shaun Udal experienced throat and stomach problems, although they took part in practice on Saturday.
Coach Duncan Fletcher said it was “difficult” to say which of the quartet would be able to face Pakistan A.
Hoggard and Pietersen are almost certain to play in the first Test, while Udal is being tipped to fill the second spinner’s role alongside Ashley Giles.
None of the four were able to join the rest of the squad in the gym after the nets at the Pakistan Cricket Board Academy.
If they are unable to feature in Lahore, it will hamper England’s preparations for the first of three Tests.
Pietersen, in particular, needs time in the middle after the batting struggled in the opening win over the PCB Patron’s XI in Rawalpindi earlier this week.
Only opening batsman Marcus Trescothick enjoyed success, making an unbeaten match total of 162, before the hosts were skittled for 105 to give England a 52-run win.
Ian Bell, who endured a torrid time against Australia in the summer, made only two and one, giving rise to suggestions that Paul Collingwood will take his place in Multan.
The Durham all-rounder has played just three Test matches since making his debut against Sri Lanka in December 2003 but the improvements in his game have impressed the England hierarchy.
“He is slightly unlucky not to have played a few more Tests. As a batter he has improved a lot over the last year and has come on really as a bowler,” Fletcher explained. "If we go with two spinners we don’t believe in having three seamers in this heat in Pakistan. "Colly is determined to play Test cricket and not be singled out as a one-day player. He was clocking 79 miles an hour, now he is getting up to 84 to 85, which is quite useful. "
