Re: Why is Pakistan a "Failed State"?
But that didn't change in just last one year, this report is ridiculous as also pointed by antiobl.

Re: Pakistan 'is a top failed state'
^ Of course it should not. I just meant that speaking a lie enough number of times, makes it sound like the truth and prophecies such as these are used an efficient ploy towards non-friendly countries.
Re: Pakistan ‘is a top failed state’
This article seems to suggest otherwise!
Re: Pakistan ‘is a top failed state’
Article is dated March 2006, also its by Zahid Hussain (biased?).
The Failed states Index can be found here:

The fact (per that table in the link) that Afghanistan’s economy is just 0.5 points worse than Pakistan… makes me → ![]()
Re: Pakistan ‘is a top failed state’
At least we made it to the top somewhere…![]()
Re: Pakistan ‘is a top failed state’
Donot worry …these ppl have their own criteria…If today we become “naked” n they will say this is top nation.
Re: Pakistan 'is a top failed state'
Although there may be truth to what is said in the report, I tend to feel that it is a highly biased report. By looking at the 12 criterion, and not finding Israel in the top 60 states I doubt the impartiality of the reporters. Also, according to the report, Venezuela gained +12 points in 2005 which does not reflect what happened in the country last year and what is continuing to happen. Venezuela was on the verge of a complete political and economic collapse last year. Finding China in the 57th place seems out-of-place to say the least. There are certain costs associated with rapid economic expansion and development, and for no reason (IMHO) China, with its remarkable growth, can be called a failed state.
Re: Pakistan 'is a top failed state'
Purely a number gimmick. Anyone can become a so called 'champion' or 'judge' and write garbage like this.
Re: Pakistan 'is a top failed state'
Only importance of these reports is from the point that many a large mncs do look at these reports while making investment decisions.....
Hence these reports and content needs to be managed ... or right or wrong these can be damaging....
Re: Why is Pakistan a "Failed State"?
Yes, that's true, but last years position of 34 is not that great either.
Re: Pakistan ‘is a top failed state’
If this was an score in Olympic Gymnastic, Pakistan would be doing awsome..All high 9s. ![]()

I loved the part where Iraq was ranked No. 4 :) the responsible USA should be penalized for turning the stable state into such a chaos - killing thousands of innocents

The GoP fires back and says the report is “faulty, rubbish”;

And ARD says it’s all because of Musharraf. :omg:
Who else could they blame?
As if the other permanent fixtures of pakistani politics had magic wands-which they never used during their tenures.

Re: Pakistan ‘a failed state’? (Merged)
Dunno why we have to “fire back”. I think the best response should have been “We are seriously looking at the report, we’ll work on the legitimate issues on our end, and we’ll work with the source of report on fixing the stuff that may have been an error”.
Re: Pakistan 'a failed state'? (Merged)
Or in JI fashion, Pak govnt could have issued a fatwa on the report makers.
Re: Pakistan 'a failed state'? (Merged)
doesnt that mean that it is faulty?
This U.S. administration cant be taken seriously,we all know that.Unless its abt a war ofcourse.:D
Yes we arent doing great, but ALOT OF it has to do with the security situation.
