Have you ever noticed how married/engaged Pakistanis try to keep a limited amount of friends of the opposite gender? What is up with that?
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
i would think it's because they don't want to make their significant others jealous or to think they might had a past and that's why they're so free with people from the opposite gender.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
Just to get the satisafaction, that they cannot get otherwise from their partener.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
^ because of peopel in society who think like this.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
I just gave reaseon behind it, that they will give to close friedns. I did not mean it is good.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
It is so easy for the other half to get the wrong idea, I know if my fiance had friends which were girls, then I would definetly get jealous.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
I find it cute when a guy lowers his gaze and doesnt get all friendly with other girls..esp if he is engaged...thats just so hott...lol k im serious ..really thats a neat quality to have..
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
Because in Islam it is forbidden to have friends of the opposite sex for no other reason than to chew the rug…
Gathering places like pubs, bars, discotheques and the likes where mixed-gender gathering happens, women come all dolled-up to look like French Poodles at a dog show…A friend of mine wanted me to come to church with him to hook up with some girls…![]()
Islam doesn’t allow that…Plus, your wife is your best friend and confidant…Why would you need friends of the opposite gender…
It’s like that, see…:EastCoast:

Re: Pakis and Insecurities
At least in this case I am going to favor that it is really Haram (Immoral for people being threatened in person by Mullas :)).....
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
hmmm maybe cus when they're engaged they're in la la land and dont find anyone else of the opposite gender exciting or attractive enuff to talk to?
not married yet, so no idea what will happen then... but personal experience suggests you honestly dont feel like finding time for anyone else... same gender friends is ok, cus all u do is end up talking about ur fiance/hubby/wifey/kids neways...
p.s i dont think its an insecurity...
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
couldnt have said it better…applies to all muslims regardless of whether they are paks!
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
ooops, my best friend is of the opposite sex, I can’t marry him because I don’t love him and he is not muslim!..
should I get rid of him? I mean we aren’t doing anything bad together, we are just friends!![]()
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
So not having friends of the opposite gender makes you insecure.
Having friends of the opposite gender makes you a bad Muslim and slutty. Errrr… yeah!!! ![]()
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
it is not just the case with Pakis. People from other races/countries don't like their spouse/fiance to have many friends of the opp. gender because it makes them jealous. Jealousy is an inherent evil.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
So what's the big deal? I wudnt want my husband to have female friends... coworkers, being nice to em etc is fine, but i wudn't feel comfortable if it went beyond unnecessary phone calls/visits. And at least we have a reason for not havin em, it's against Islam.
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
maybe they wudnt want any probs arising in their married life, maybe the dont want their attention to wander or maybe they dont trust themselves . either way its an attitude dat ought to make a better half beam wid pride
Re: Pakis and Insecurities
dis doesnt make sense
