Paki - why has it become an insult?

Paki - is now used to insult all South Asian in the UK. My question is 'Why??"
Why ‘Paki’, why not ‘Indi’ ?, BDi? Why did the racists in UK target Pakistanis??

This is not a flame - so please reply giving me some reasons.

3 the term was used for blue collar factory workers who came from pakistan, and not just pakistan, specific parts of pakistan. Indians and bangladeshis were not part of that group, so the slur was for

that group that kind of got attributed later to all brown people..

its like in US where pakistanis get bundled with arabs and get called camel jockeys or sand niggers
or get bundled with indians and called apu or dothead. in general ignorant pricks who came up with or use racial slurs dont bother to check ethnic origin :)

Paki is an insult for South Indian Hindus (middle and upper class).

Why?

Paki - in South India represents one of the Shudra / untouchable classes that represents such lowly work as cleaning latrines.

For Pakistanis, there is no such concept or derogatory thingy in the term Paki. We have our own localized name for the latrine cleaners (which should not be there, but unfortunately there are).
