ok so i could stay here in the US and do medical, for which the prices go sky high and i would have to take a loan and pay interest, and thats a no no!!! or i could go to a paki medical college and do it there cheaper and faster. now the problem is i hear schools there r tough, but someone told me it’s just rata rata and more rata. is that true? has ne one here been to one, can u tell me how hard it might be and if it’s a good idea or not?
get a loan
^ i would have to pay interest on it. and i'd rather not put my studies over islam, so that all the money i ever make from that education will also be haram.
i knew of a guy who went to paki to do med school... but id prob get the loan and do it in US..
i mean if u do it in pak.. and wanna go back to the US to practise.. u'll have to go through another exam... and those exams are wooosh! very very hard...
otherwise u could always try FJ.. thats a pretty good college

Convert... drink fornicate sin...get a loan.. graduate pay the loan... convert back
Well I don't think that is quite true. There are some very good med schools in Pakistan. KE and Agha Khan probably the top two. I think this whole ratta thing is a myth. I have a lot of friends in both these schools and knowing the kind of people they were, they wouldn't be there if the schools weren't top notch.
If I were you though I'd stay in Amreeka (or Canada whever you are). This whole concept of becoming an MD at the ripe age of 23 just doesn't make sense to me.
doesnt it take like 6 years neways to do it in pakistan? i dunno... im sure my cousin was like 26-27 by the time she finished..
well I guess so. 5 years in school, 1 year residency or whatever they call it in Pakistan. Most people have their MD designation by 23/24 though.
yeah i thought so... my cous is in FJ.. and i reckon she'll be about 24-25 by the time she finishes... its not that easy in pakistan either...
residendcy = house job = same thing
i for sure won't take a loan here, but i might do another major and then work and get money for med school, but that takes forever. ne ways yeah i heard the exams here r hard as hell. i know some very smart people who took it, and they studied like crazy. in either case weather i do medical here or in pakistan i will end up in pakistan. cuz i hate this country and i'd rather help my own people, who infact need it more than these kaffirs. but i would really just wanna know how hard it actually is down there. i know that alot of people from america go to pakistan to do medical. a friend of mine did to, but she doesn't say much about it.
hmmm... u want me to ask my cousins? both of them are doing med.. ones doing it at a private college (there are heaps of those there).. and these private colleges are opened by americans or british unis... not sure.. will find out... and what happens is.. once u graduate.. u are qualified to work in UK or US.. (need to find out).. without sitting the exam.. as in the one when u go overseas and want to practise..
the other cousin is at FJ.. i know she found it tough.. but for other reasons..

that would be great yaar, i need all the info i can get. i was thinking of DOW medical college. don't know i u ever heard of it. i don't think my parents can afford something like Aghakhan though, cuz both me and my sister wanna go. and we don't way pay the wrong way, like rishwat just cuz we r from overseas.
Kewl... will Inshallah find out for u soon then :) is DOW a private institution as well?
^ no i don't think so. but i'm not sure.
I was thinking of the same thing.. going to pakistan or going to school here. I have also asked many people, some say go to Pakistan and some say stay here. I also heard when you go to pakistan you have to give a FSC exam to get into the medical college of your choice. This exam tests your knowledge of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry, because you are going straight into medical school. In Pakistan you are exposed to many different types of sicknesses in your first couple of years in medical school. You should also think about how different the education in Pakistan is.. If you were raised here it might be a total shock for you, but then again this is what other people have said. You only find out when you experience it for yourself. Good Luck!
^ kewl.... i dont even know what it is.. but i just hear my parents talking about it....

i think of all the same problems to. but I hear that the test is based on SAT, and that u don't have to take it. i'm not really sure though. but in ne case i heard that it's really hard for paki students cuz they don't know english, and everything is in english. but that really won't be a problem for me and my sis.
don't go to DOW......someone i knew went there ....had to spend 3 extra years than planned coz of strikes etc.
however my sis is in FJ ....n its pretty good ....ratta thing is a myth ...as my sis is not a doctor yet ...but she has availed some chances of operating with famous docs ....including the joint surgery of our own mother....mashaAllah she is brilliant ....n according to her FJ is good :)
just check before going to Pakistan for medicine if ur a foreign national.. my cousin was asked to pay US $ 10,000 each year of study in Pakistan!
