Will you learn to spell the correct word? How come no body here cared to correct this *paki *ki bachi?
Queenbee, there are NO *paki *communities in US.
However, there is a group of people from a country called Pakistan, they are called *Pakistanis **and they live all across the US. The poor ones tend to crowd up the major cities while the rich ones are spread out into the country side and unaware of the fact that their countrymen live in the city as well... until they visit 20 or so Melas that each "*community" holds in their city each year or when the atta runs out.
welll i live in this tiny, isolated town in Long Island, NY where I thought I'd only find white people but I was wrong! There's a fairly large Pakistani community here increasing day by day and they're basically the same kind of people you'd find anywhere else. They're a little bit of everything; nosey, annoying, greedy, concieted haha we've got em all.
i guess i jst live in a nice area..... (hehehe envy me :D )
well whenever someone gets sick or in the hospital or needs extra hand with party.....we all try to help them.....we take turns to cook for them and stay in the hospital as most of us dont have extended families who can stay with them in the hospital....there is this aunty in our community and is really nice and very good cook so whenever any needs her help they ask her and she doesnt charge anyone for cooking (helping with parties)
One of the lady's mom passed away (in US) and due to this her sister was in depression and was in the hospital....now this lady couldnt stay with her sister in the hospital as she wanted to go toUS to see her mom and ladies in our community took care of her, took turn to stay with her sister in the hospital.....we all act like a family.... very close to each other (masallah)
i forgot to mention that whenever our annual conventions "jalsas" are held anywhere in Canada.....i go with my family to attend it. The residency and meals are arranged by our community for free.
Our community arrange everyones stay with all the local families and who are always really hospitable, not only they give us ride to the "jalsah gah" the place where conventions are arranged.
Also later on before leaving they take time out from their busiest schedule as during jalsa, local community members are always busy to pack things up and it takes days to do that, yet they manage to take us out for shopping and show some nice places of their city......they are complete strangers but after spending 3 days with them they become like a family.....
i always look forward to our conventions :)
As for Torontonian Pakistani communities, I am going to have to say we've got quite a decent mix. You will find all sorts of Pakistani social classes in Toronto and thus all sorts of Pakistani mentalities.
Mostly annoying. I feel like they all just try too hard in every aspect of life (wannabes). All the uncles that I know are just all around good people, working hard to provide for their family and just nice people in general. Theres two types of aunties- the very chalaak ones and the very very sweet ammi-to-everyone kinds. Luckily I havent had that much experience with the chalak ones but there are alot that of aunties who I consider like my own mother. But the younger generation... 90% of em I'd say are just screwed up. A little bit too sexual, girls are just such haters, gossipers, young boys are too caught up trying hard to be black or white, insecure of themselves, liars, manipulators, just very very messed up... no respect for family, elders, authorities. ONE BIG MESS.
