Geographical Punjab actually stops at the Jhelum River - the Beas, Sutlej, Jhelum, Ravi and Chenab. Chakwal, mianwali, Attock, Rawalpindi, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar KHAN, Bhakkar ae not Punjabi areas butstill a par tof Punjab.
Balochistan is named after the baloch.
I dont mind whatever the people of NWFP like to have name for them.
but notion that Sindhis have Sindh and Punjabis have Punjab is not logically correct.
Sindhis are called cause they are from Sindh!
Punjabis are called cause they are from Punjab not the other way around.
so first name the land of NWFP and name the people after that. in NWFP we are trying to do otherway around. naming the province after people.
or name it like Blochistan which is i guess named after people. in that sense it can be Pushtunistan or Pakhtunistan or Pakhtunkhua.
but thats my idea, it can be called anything what you people like to have.
Is the renaming woth all the expense, energy, time thats involved in a referendum which will be rigged anyway?
I dont agree with the name NWFP but which name can people agree on? If people disagree with a Pashtu related name then from non-Pashtun areas such as Hazara, Kohistan, Chitral and D I Khans bordering areas with Seariki speaking Dera Ghazi Kahn - will they be allowed to opt out and form their own areas?
I think the non-Pakhtun areas of NWFP - Hazara, Chitral, Kohistan, DI Khan etc should be allowed to separate if an ethnic name is chosen for the province.

Well Nawaz Sharif disregarded what the NWFP PA voted by a majority in 1997, despite his promises to the ANP. Also, the MMA govt in 5 years made no serious attempt in the PA to move a resolution to change the name.
