After Mughal-e Aazam,who can forget the masterpiece created by Kamaal Amrohi.
Meena Kumari(Mahzabeen),Raj Kumar and Ashok Kumar were just excellent and the songs were the major highlights.I remember a dialogue of Rajkumar,when he sees Meena Kumari sleeping:Apne paon zameen par mat rakhiyega,maile ho jaayenge.

Yes Pakeezah is my other all-time fave after mughal e azam! A wonderful film! Aur gaanoN ki to baat hi kuchh aur hai…and the choreography of the dances! wah wah! Meena Kumari aur Raj Kumar ki acting bhi kamaal ki thi.

Pakeeza is one of the best films along with "Umero Jaan". Also, among new movies Astitva and Tapish are quite good.
Do u guys know it took 10 yrs to finish making "Pakeeza"?
Yes the songs are absolutely wonderful. Specially "mausam hai aashiqana".

Pakeezah was a film which took 10 years for completion.Music for the songs was provided by maestro Ghulam Mohd. who died while the film was stuck up during making.The background score was also excellent and was provided by another great person - Naushad.
In some scenes of the film,Meena Kumari looks so young(filmed 10 years bac)and in soem she looked not that young.But these shortcomings were overlooked by the viewers and the film was an alltime superhit.
