LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board has finally sent a formal invitation to West Indian Cricket Board to tour Pakistan for a two-test match series after the efforts from PCB to arrange test series with Sri Lanka and South Africa went in vain.
**Also, Shafqat Nagmi the Chief Operating officer PCB announced in an interview here that Pakistan and West Indies to play a three-match ODI series in November in Abu Dhabi.
**
PCB has invited West Indian Cricket Board to tour Pakistan right after ODI series for which we are looking forward a positive response, he said adding that unfortunately, Pakistan team could not play too many matches this year however he hoped Pakistan cricket team to have a busy schedule next year.

Wait a minute. Didn't WI already decline the proposal to play CT in Pakistan? How/Why would they even consider this request, did their vote counted "less" than the other four nations? Invitation aside, why would you invite someone weeks later when they recently declined to tour for security reasons?
Granted, August - November is not a short time window, so that might have been playing in PCB's mind.

PCB deciding to play in Abu Dhabi in Sep and then in Tronto in Oct...hmmm why did they make such a big deal out of moving the CT out of Pak? Seems like they are OK playing in other areas in the same time frame as CT. What morons! have some guts.

Did PCB have any choice in the matter? Which angle did you notice that they made a big deal out of it?

I have almost had it with the “security tours” before the start of each series. They have gotten more exposure than anything in Pakistan cricket this year.
So what if the security situation is not improved, what then? Another postponed/canceled tour?
…Already there is a new development for CT with a packed International calendar with boards not willing to give-in to the new dates for the tournament as it is clashing with the Champions League.
To what Ehsan Mani came out with in the media a few days ago, he stated that Pakistan should give up the rights for the Champions Trophy and they have an option to ask for another series/cup/tournament. Here is my question: What if the security situation is not improved/gets worse when World Cup 2011 rolls around? Should Pakistan also give up the rights to host World Cup matches in Pakistan? I mean, is there a limit?

We should make Sharjah our next new home venue since no credible team will tour Pakistan given the current state of affairs. Sharjah anyhow holds some gr8 memories of Pakistani Cricket & there is no shortage of Pakistanis their, so a capacity crowd should be a achieveable target.
Shoaib Malik has been retained as Pakistan’s captain for the one-day series against the West Indies in Abu Dhabi.
The all-rounder had come under pressure after the team were defeated in a four-nation Twenty20 competition last week.
That disappointment followed on from the side’s struggles in the Asia Cup, though they have not played a Test match so far this year.
New Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ijaz Butt has now come out in support of Malik, announcing that he would carry on until his term ends in December.
“Malik’s performance will be reviewed when it is time in December,” Butt said. "We are more concerned about the team’s performance and that has to improve.
“In the last 12 months, the board has distributed around Rs25 million ($302,663) as bonuses to the players but I don’t think they have deserved it.”
Malik will now lead his country in the three-match series against the Windies which gets underway on November 12.

Two good things have come out of this recent news. Shoaib Malik continues his term and PCB is also supporting the captain, also ensuring that captains are not changed on a series-to-series basis. We have started to play more games outside of the country and the interest in cricket seems to pick back up, little by little. Hopefully the situation within the country will come to a point where cricket can resume it's normal course.
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has proposed a two-Test offshore series with Pakistan in November this year, an offer the fixture-starved Pakistan Cricket Board is considering.
If agreed, the Tests would take place in Abu Dhabi, after the three-ODI series between the two sides on November 12, 14 and 16. “We have received a proposal from the WICB about two Tests this November,” a PCB official told Cricinfo. “Many things have to be considered, such as the TV rights, gate money and so on. We will seriously consider the proposal.”
That is also what went through my mind reading the article. From recent information, Giles Clark have been pressing Pakistan to play more home games on English soil, so it would have made sense to send an invitation out to Pakistan.
So what exactly is Pakistan doing after series with India? The only thing after that, which is in the FTP, is T20 World Championship in June.
But Pakistan is expecting a “half-series” with Australia, right? Maybe maybe? So we are left nothing from March until June. Again 4 months of no-cricket period.
Right now PCB is busy firing and hiring people. When that's done, Pakistan will play some cricket. And that doesn't seem to be any time soon. And both ICC and PCB are at fault for this.
